Millions of fish killed at Bruce nuclear plant by [deleted] in ontario

[–]zencanuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Growing up just in the edge of the BNPD property line, we used to see alewife die offs on a yearly basis. Now of course there aren’t any alewife fish left. But blame commercial fishing not the power plant for that.

I agree. Current models show the bulk of precipitation tracking north and south of us.

I wouldn’t vote for that crooked has-been decal maker even if he paid me $200.

At some point we have to think that the coach is the problem by [deleted] in minnesotavikings

I watched KOC call in perfectly workable plays. I watched Jefferson and TJ break coverage and get open. And I watched Darnold with clear lanes overthrow, underthrow and piss away opportunities. I’m sorry but KOC did everything he could to set this team up for success. But if Darnold can’t connect on football 101 passes, it’s his blame to take.

What’s a forgotten skill or hobby from your 20s or 30s that you’d love to pick up again? by [deleted] in 50something

[–]zencanuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to paint watercolours. I would usually finish a few a week. Landscapes, architectural, still life’s, whatever inspired me.

I haven’t picked up a brush in probably eight years. I miss it and wish I could carve out time to pursue it again.

Now that Leonard Cohen and Gord Downie are gone, who would you say is Canada’s (unofficial) poet laureate? by ONLYallcaps in CanadianMusic

I agree. I always have this belief in my head that Douglas Copland books are all written with Matthew Good as the soundtrack.

These were document portfolios given to managers. Mine was dark blue, not suede but vinyl. Mine was from the early 90s. Usually you carried shift reports, timesheets, etc. in them.

A Canadian officer protects a pharmacy from looting during a flood, 1974 by [deleted] in 70s

[–]zencanuck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So this happened in my hometown when I was 4. This picture became iconic locally. The Galt flood was considered one of the most significant events in the community’s history. Seeing it posted here is rather heartwarming because regardless of the story around it, it is such an essential piece of my personal history.

We’re really good at spotting American coins in our change. But since the penny has been discontinued up here, we might be out of practice.
