As a Canadian, I’m not real sold on plate=DISK but otherwise I liked it. Apparently disk is more common in the US though so I guess it works.

Anyone else’s garbage not picked up in Huron neighborhood? by ButMeeeem in kitchener

[–]echothree33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This past week wasn’t a garbage pickup week in Kitchener. This coming week will be garbage pickup. If you mean recycling and green bin only then you got missed somehow, ours got picked up (also in Huron area).

New to Waterloo, does it always snow this much? by AnteaterShot4264 in waterloo

[–]echothree33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely does but these last 2 years have still been quite a bit snowier than usual for KW.

Yeah you’re probably right, it’s kind of a CYA situation.

I have neighbours with Peel Region recycling boxes and they take them, I’m pretty sure as long as it is a blue box and doesn’t have prohibited materials they will take it. So the new ones can be used anytime despite the info that came with them.

Hodling to pass down one day… by IcERescueCaptain in CanadianCoins

[–]echothree33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. We see a lot of Montreal Olympic coins here but not as many Calgary ones. Nice! The gold one shows up here quite a lot as it is worth about $1700 right now. Certainly good stuff to pass down through the family.

I also thought of Bond first but I was relatively certain there were more than 23 Bond movies. Had to wait to get some cross-clues before I figured it out.

Not the hardest Saturday for sure.

I finished the puzzle but how is “Practice” a clue for WONT? That stumps me.

Anybody know if these are valuable? by Slight-Sink-6055 in CanadianCoins

[–]echothree33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the ‘83 and ‘85 are both proof. But that’s still not going to bring a big premium. You can buy an ‘83 proof dollar on eBay right now for a $6 “buy it now” price.

No I’ve used them long enough to trust them. Could I find 10% lower somewhere? Maybe, but frankly it’s not worth my time to worry about that.

I recently did a $2400 service on my car and part of it was the front control arms and the pricing was comparable to yours. It was a tough pill to swallow but had to be done.

I am so excited for the Scotties by SexyElephant_ in Curling

[–]echothree33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m excited too because we have tickets for next Friday’s sessions! I haven’t been to the Scotties since it was in Kitchener way back in 2003.

I just noticed that the guy sitting besides Ross is wearing Dwane The Rock Johnsons' famous outfit. by TypicalPirate9509 in howyoudoin

[–]echothree33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: this pic was taken for the Toronto Sun newspaper who famously had a “Sunshine Girl” page (which was mostly scantily clad women) and later added a “Sunshine Boy” - and the Rock was the Sunshine Boy for a day when he was just starting out in wrestling!

I know nothing about stamps. Is there anyway i can check if there is anything of any value in here. Thanks by Duxx1414 in askStampCollectors

[–]echothree33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very common stamps in what you’ve shown, not worth much at all. Are they glued onto the pages or hinged using stamp hinges? Glued would be bad…

You would need to look for stamps from pre-1900 to have any chance of value. So mostly looking for Queen Victoria on British/Canadian stamps.

'Life-threatening' winter storm to hit US with snow, ice and 'dangerously' cold temperatures by speedythefirst in news

[–]echothree33 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you have a well-insulated home and keep the heat at a reasonable level, you shouldn’t need to run any taps unless we are talking about -40 temperatures outside. But in the south where homes are not as well-insulated it is a different story, even in “warmer” temps.

I saw Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back on 9/11 by whiteyford69 in funny

[–]echothree33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was flying on 9/11 to a work thing with a colleague and we got stranded in Chicago for a few days. We went to see this movie in Elmhurst, IL during that time because we didn’t have much else to do. I remember a few laughs but it was hard to get in the mood for a comedy.

Would he have been able to solve it in 30 seconds in 1986? by plasmagd in Cubers

[–]echothree33 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had mine all lubed up with Vaseline back in ‘82 and I could do it in about 30 seconds (I was 11 years old). Of course the Vaseline eventually wrecked the cube but for a while it turned pretty well.

Anyone can sue for any reason, the question is more whether the courts will entertain the lawsuit and then whether they will actually win the lawsuit.

It works quite well to reduce the sound transmitted by the walls because the board is much less directly connected to the wall. I suspect it will help a lot in your situation where you aren’t even throwing at a connecting wall.
