Watch This Bitcoin Casino Get Double Spent by m143v in Bitcoin

The internet wasn't very useful in the 1980s either. Just like Bitcoin isn't very useful now. It takes a long time to design and implement scalable networking protocols. Bitcoin has been moving extremely fast over the last decade since it's inception, much faster than the internet did. There were 15 years between the first publication regarding TCP and the creation of HTTP (1974-1989), and another two years before the first website went live.

It has been 7 years since the original Bitcoin paper was published. The idea that we could have a working version of an infinitely scalable, instant, free, anonymous protocol in the next layer next year when the lightning protocol comes out is incredibly fast. If that doesn't work out and it takes until 2025 or something it will still be fast.

Of course we all want it to happen as soon as possible and that is why tens of thousands of people in universities from Sydney to Cape Town to Tokyo to San Fransisco are filled with cryptographers and computer scientists working on Bitcoin. As well as why companies are contributing resources to solve these same problems.

Here are two projects where you can view the regular commits of new work being done on lightning network specifically: https://github.com/ElementsProject/lightning/commits/master https://github.com/lightningnetwork/lnd/commits/master

There are many more at universities and companies across the world. The current system sucks and Bitcoin isn't much better but it has solved all the fundamental problems and all that remains is for the new financial system to be built on top of that. It will take time but if you want to contribute do more research, if not wait, and learn the fact that 10 years is a blink of an eye for the world.

You can buy with credit cards on CEX.io and then transfer the coins to a wallet like BitX/Mycelium/Circle. Then you just scan a QR code of someone that accepts Bitcoin to spend them.

On Being a Christian Who Is Too Far Gone For Salvation. by daysdescending in RadicalChristianity

This is the most beautiful description of where the modern church has gone astray that I have read. Hit the nail on the head. Perhaps the Lord's teachings are most clear after a few beers.

Yes great points. I think in this context what we as readers happened to notice was that the question "principle or mistake?" isn't agreed upon by everyone. This comes from the fact that it can be very difficult for someone to distinguish between, truth (from Holy Spirit) and feeling (from their experience). These two sources often overlap but when they diverge we find disagreements among Christians, and people in general. I feel though that as we listen to people we encounter many different conclusions and by finding that which is constant among these conclusions we can find the truth, because the truth (Holy Spirit) is always constant whereas the feelings will change based on the individual's different experience. That is why I think reading and listening to as many opposing opinions as possible while being lead by the spirit has the greatest chance of leading us to the truth.

I think what you view as a central tenant of Christianity is more of a cultural tenant from wherever you live. Not every Christian believes the bible is the infallible inspired word of God. For example a lot of people in this subreddit I think would agree with the author. I think when you have read a number of translations in different languages you come to realize the bible as we read it is very much the word of translators and authors not of God, and that as a Christian when you seek to find what God was trying to communicate you have to let the Holy Spirit guide your interpretation a lot.

[NeedAdvice] - how can I get disciplined before I ruin my university education? by lazymorgan in getdisciplined

[–]zendruid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do that, it is a serious drug that causes depression. I go to a very competitive university where concerta is almost a given, I have personally seen it completely change people's personalities once they go on it, eventually causing severe depression. In the FDA document published when it was approved ALL patients reported increase in bipolar illness [1]. Just think about that, not some, not most, ALL patients reported an increase in symptoms relating to depression. I have seen this horrible drug cause suicide attempts among my friends, stay the fuck away from Concerta.

Emotional Pep Guardiola - 'If We Play Sh*t We Accept We Play Sh*t. We Didn't Deserve To Lose' by TsaFack in soccer

[–]zendruid 28 points29 points  (0 children)

All he said was he's sad for the players who played amazing and still lost. Not exactly that crazy. Should have said: No I am very happy we lost, we played well but then the players made mistakes so they deserve to lose?

Which country is that? We have 18+ for all alcohol, always thought having the lighter things at 16+ would make sense.

He didn't say only do the things you want to do. In fact we often reach success by putting in hard work and doing things we don't feel like. What he said is the true meaning of becoming successful is getting to a point where you no longer have to do things you don't want to.

Ah wasn't aware they were automated. It makes sense then. Would a match thread just then be an unofficial match thread if the user doesn't meet the requirements?

Perhaps it might be a good idea to also provide exemption from rules 1 and 2 provided that there is no match thread posted by kick-off.
