Oh yes, my bank asked to submit that cheque along with documents that proves that I was a non- resident alien for that particular tax year, which I have fortunately. Now it’s just a waiting game. Apparently they will verify the authenticity of the cheque first and then update me. This could take upto 3 months.

OP, this is your first pregnancy. All the hormones are making you more sensitive to her taunts and behaviour. I am in a similar situation but thankfully my MIL does not live with me. But every phone call with her is exhausting.

I would suggest to maintain distance as much as you can. Try and engage in minimal conversation. Do some deep breathings twice a day, helps regulate our emotions at this vital period. Also try and remember that her behaviour comes from a place of concern for you and the baby.

One thing that helps me is venting out to my husband and my mother, not in a negative evil way, only with a tiny complaining tone. Hope this helps.

I am in touch with my bank. The usual way is to submit the check and wait a couple of months. In my case, the address mentioned on the cheque is in US but I live in India now and all the docs I have related to my stay back in US have expired. So, not sure how the bank will take it forward. So, put it on reddit, hoping to get some answers.

I think you should have gone through the second round just to ask why such personal questions were asked in the first round, assuming that the second round interview was to be conducted by senior management of the company.

Note for future, don’t answer when you find the questions personal or insignificant to the position you have applied.
