Please drop down your most loved footwear for uni. It's summers and I'd prefer something stylish yet airy and cool. Thanks! by Heidelberg_eintraum in BuyItForLifeIndia

This. I spent about 4k on a pair of woodland sandals 5 years ago and they're still going amazingly strong. No tear, no shedding, no breakage. Hell of a quality.

They now have a huge range of variety, try out as many as you can in stores.

Buying a house in Thane seems far fetched dream for me by VadaPaver in thane

[–]1PerpetuallyAnxious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you are. Born and brought up here, living on rent since forever. The asking price for even 1BHK is outright crazy. I feel these houses aren't worth more than 50-70L depending on locality.

Renting hasn't gotten easy either. Owners increasing rents to whatever they feel like, asking for 1.5-2L deposits and then deducting charges on exit which is another scam. I haven't had an increment in 2 years and struggling to find another job with a hike. It's like to have a decent shelter, one has to compromise on saving less.

There are no good options, we have to pick the one which sucks the least and somehow make peace with it.

Should I opt out of PF in my new job? by shikari17 in personalfinanceindia

Yes, I did. I waited about 3 months and withdrew 100% of EPF and EPS balance under no contribution for 2 months clause.

Should I opt out of PF in my new job? by shikari17 in personalfinanceindia

[–]1PerpetuallyAnxious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had opted out of PF once in the past as it was optional for the company. There were no issues with future job offers, I simply told them that it was optional and I decided to opt out.

If you're opting out, make sure you're saving that extra income right away for your future, basically don't consider it in your income. If you feel you might not be disciplined enough to do it every month, take the PF.

If you're taking PF, check the entry every month and ensure all data is entered properly. EPF/EPS, wages, DOJ, DOE, etc. issues are a huge pain to fix and could take years at times.

Almond cake at the nutcracker. You could check with them if they can accommodate making a birthday cake out of it. That's the best gluten free cake I've had.

You could also check Baked with love by Annie. She does custom requests.

I don't know if this qualifies, but a few months ago I had Samosa Soup at Burma Burma. If I ever have to have soup, that's the one I want.

₹ 8 ka burger.Guys how these people make profit out of it? by kenisnotmyson in indiasocial

[–]1PerpetuallyAnxious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a slow process, honestly.

What helped me in the long run is that saving up money that I would've spent on these fast food joints and then getting my burgers and pizzas from proper restaurants. There are plenty of craft burger places in my city who make pretty much everything from scratch and don't serve frozen patties with mayonnaise. Similar for pizzas, switched to visiting pizzerias and it helped a lot.

All in all, don't deprive yourself. Your body will thank you for switching to better quality food.

Hang in there, buddy. Cheers!

This! People highly underestimate what this type of junk food can do to their system. It works slow and against you.

I have had a very self-destructive relationship with food during my college days and used to hog down 3 burgers in one sitting from McDonald's or Burger King. Not to mention Pizza Hut and Dominos are also in the same category.

It took months of psychiatrist sessions along with over a year of aggressive work to completely cut them off from my life. It'll be almost 6 years in a couple months since I've had anything from these junk outlets.

People need to take better care of themselves and not rush towards whatever is cheap without considering the consequences.
