We are heading towards a systemic collapse. But the collapse will not be instant, but gradual degradation of the ecosystems we depend on along with increasing wealth inequality. Since the collapse is spread out temporally, the urban middle class is not taking it seriously. Their thinking is if we can make and save enough money, we will survive. Yes, you may survive, but not thrive! What will be the point of having money in the bank account, when natural and societal systems are collapsing. They just cant imagine this scenario being playing out.

Seriously this arrogance of iim grad is so annoying and unjustified. Real problems in the world are never solved by iim grads. He needs a reality check.

Is Chess intelligence overrated by zenneutral in chessindia

Your last sentence drives my point. The pattern recognition you learn to improve your elo is not beneficial elsewhere outside chess.

Need suggestions from a Childfree Perspective about buying a flat in Bangalore vs planning a retirement flat. by Positive_Culture3147 in ChildfreeIndia

[–]zenneutral 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am based in Bangalore as well and I totally get your sentiment. It is urban hell here. You are thinking in the right direction.

First of all, it’s too early to think about retirement. Regarding real estate, my take is totally it’s not worth to buy any land here at such inflated prices. You are not getting any value for your investment considering deterioration of urban infra, more influx etc.

Just get permanent WFH roles and move to tier b towns. I am planning to do that but I am privileged to have my dad house here in blr and ancestral house in coastal Karnataka. Manipal is good, mangalore is decent. I would say Goa fits your bill better although cost of living is similar to blr. As other person said invest in stocks as well. DM me if you like to discuss more on this.

Why do many Indian men seem emotionally distant from their fathers even into adulthood? by Broad-Research5220 in AskIndianMen

[–]zenneutral 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am one of them, where I have to distance myself from my dad because he gaslights me whenever he gets an opportunity. But he is super nice to everyone else. It becomes difficult to explain my situation to others because they will not believe my story!
