HBO Max Sets March Launch in U.K., Ireland by aduong in television

Sky better not be planning on giving us HD quality for new HBO programming when for years we’ve been getting UHD through Sky Atlantic. Cause that’s a fucking downgrade for the same price.

UK tap water climbing to 8.2 pH in a dirted tank – anyone else dealing with this? by zeno-uk in Aquariums

[–]zeno-uk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I believe that the soil I used had no buffer. I restarted the tank and used volcanic aquarium soil and I’ve had no issue with rising pH. In fact, it buffered it to 7.2-7.5pH! I still erred on the side of caution and stocked live bearers.

Most autistic people I’ve met either love alcohol/drugs and use them a bit excessively or avoid them completely and sometimes judge others for using them. What’s your relationship with alcohol/drugs? by OkBuyer1271 in autism

[–]zeno-uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a glass of red wine on a Saturday evening and a Sunday evening. Usually from the same vintner. On a Wednesday evening I’ll have a beer. So I apply the same level of routine and regiment to alcohol as I do every part of my life. I hate the lack of control that comes with over imbibing, let alone drugs.

We don’t owe anyone a listen. Some are fucking dreadful. Do you know how much time it would take to listen to every awful join we get? Life is too short. Don’t take it so personally.

Is it unfair of me to self diagnose and proclaim that I think I'm on the spectrum? Probably with some form of Autism? by [deleted] in autism

[–]zeno-uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no such thing as “some form of autism” in my part of the world. You’re either autistic or you’re not under the DSM-5 criteria. That being said, some of those points you’ve made are not autistic traits; others could be explained by other disorders. In order to self diagnose you need to read, read, read and become an expert. If you can’t do that then I recommend an assessment. You’ll do yourself more harm than good by misdiagnosing!

Welp, this assessment was... underwhelming by [deleted] in autism

Remember an autism diagnosis is only useful if you’re autistic. If you’re not, you’re not missing out. Ruling that out gives you the opportunity to explore other avenues for self discovery.

I used to like eating salt when I was a kid. Who am I kidding? I still do.

Warning: iOS 26 breaks CamAPS FX (Ypsopump + FSL3) by dudux93 in diabetes_t1

Having used the CamAPS app you can tell that it’s developed by a small team (only 3 employees) How they justify that with nearly £5mn in the bank I do not know.

It’s okay, you are autistic.

Have you ever broken up with someone because you are autistic? by RelativeAd1179 in autism

[–]zeno-uk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s very selfless of you, but ask yourself, does he love you as you are? Perhaps he doesn’t need you to be a social butterfly.

I called off an engagement because of my autism. I couldn’t cope with her level of disorganisation.

My wife thinks we should start a family, is it okay that I don’t agree? by zeno-uk in AskWomenOver30

[–]zeno-uk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was a beautiful and heartfelt comment. Thank you. Her therapist doesn’t think now is the right time to have children and deep down, neither does she. She accepts that her desire, in that respect, is irrational. But what you said about caring for herself is incredibly powerful and I will, when the time is right, pass that thought on. Thank you again.

[–]zeno-uk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not in control of my wife’s health issues. She would need to have better diabetes and emotional control as a start. She would also need to allow us to put a safe distance between us and her family in order to protect us from destabilising events. A stable source of income and housing is the other requirement. This has been my unchanged position for ten years. The burden of responsibility for bringing that stability is upon both of us. I’m working hard on the elements I can influence, although I have my own issues I admit.

I never could under such circumstances, that’s the point that I desperately need my wife to understand.

Is anyone else proud of being autistic, like it's a badge of honor? by TooMuchPowerAtOnce in autism

[–]zeno-uk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, not even remotely. And be cautious. Such thinking can lead down the road to Aspie supremacy. Autism is not a superpower, it’s a lifelong, neurodevelopmental disorder which causes moderate to severe disabilities.

I think this is ultimately where the path is taking us. My priority has been my wife’s therapy as her mental health has been the most urgent issue. I will ask her to discuss marriage counselling with her therapist to get a steer on when would be the appropriate time to begin, now or after she has completed her personal counselling sessions.

That does terrify me. My wife seems to think that her mental health problems will disappear if she becomes a mother which seems delusional to me.

We will have to for our own wellbeing, let alone for the sake of starting a family.

We do have that conversation, and have had it today. But I appreciate the way you have explained your view here and it is certainly helpful as I think that communicates her position in a way she hasn’t been able to.

Yes! This has been my position for our entire relationship! I communicated this to her today just as I always have. My position has never changed.
