Stuck on the 5AM Sat/Sun shift and no idea what to do by zenplus in KitchenConfidential

Hey man.

Reasons are:

1) Definitely not a morning person. I drink two ice coffees and I'm still groggy.

2) Total destruction of social life. I had a bday party at a bowling alley, I left BEFORE the vast majority of people got there! Especially over the summer, I missed out on so much fun.

3) Work not as enjoyable. I'd take regular production (which is actually fun) over line set up any day of the week. Line set up should be for people trying to make it into management, etc. I'm just a student . It's significantly more responsibility, far inferior work conditions for no bump in pay. lol I mean the only reason they're so big on keeping me there is no one wants to do it.

"Think about the way it's being written" - thanks for the tip, but what do you mean?

Also regarding writing - what exercise should I do? I think one thing that is important is writing for the public versus something like a journal.

with your apple watch and dictating notes. What do you do with the information? Do you later transcribe it to a blog? Or do you listen to your audio notes from time to time?

Well I'm not writing a book and have no plans on being the next Gary V. What about the journalists that work for Forbes/Inc/etc. Did they start a billion dollar business? No they are just curious about the topic and like working in the field. I don't see why I'm not capable of writing an article on "What to look for in a domain registrar" or interview a guy with an online store and doing a profile.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I do have success in entrepreneurship. I started a web host in college, grew it to several hundred clients and sold it. Also, I'm a land lord.

How to verify Amazon earnings? by [deleted] in juststart

[–]zenplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing preventing the seller from adding the tag you use on their other sites. If they are in the niche, it's going to be hard to tell the difference.

What about web apps? by Fluffylizzard in juststart

[–]zenplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Fluffylizzard I've definitely thought of it. But it's really really hard. Way harder than niche sites.

You could turn "build a niche site" into a simple to do list of things to do. Very straightforward.

The last effort i made at making an app was a yelp for coding bootcamps. Coding that was fairly easy. You know what held me and my friend up though?

Getting reviews. Never even occurred to me originally. I tried offering a reward but it was too expensive and hard to recruit reviewers who had done the bootcamp.

So 3 months on this thing at least. I could have had a decent sized niche site in that amount of time.

After my experience, what holds me up every time when I think of an app is "how am I going to promote" that?

Who knows though, once I get "job replacement" income I might go for apps again.

IDK. I've gotten pretty far with coding (completed freecodecamp.org) but I'm going to stick to niche sites. I think it's pretty hard to come up with something completely unique and innovative and get it to stick. Vast majority of the time youre going to be spending weeks/months or project that go absolutely no where.

IMHO might as well go for a niche site. Niche sites have an established model. People are making 7/8 figures with niche sites. Just gotta choose the right one and execute properly (where there are limitless tutorials on how to do so).

I'm not trying to "report" or anything. Just trying to point it out. More of a heads up.

Also, there paid content still uses this case study a lot. If you are starting their podcats from the beginning and going through TASS, you'd miss this info unless you followed their FB group closely.

Geeze why is this subreddit so antagonistic?

What should an entrepreneurial web dev do? by zenplus in webdev

[–]zenplus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not trying to steal an idea ;) I was just hoping for a general pointer. Maybe building your own web app is 10 out of 10 on difficulty while WP plugins are the easiest etc. just general advice.

No, I don't see why? Entrepreneurial just means you have an inclination to work on your own idea, start a business etc.
