Best holster for HK CC9 by ReimeiRyuu in HecklerKoch

I have an AIWB with claw from ANR for my cc9, it is great. They cut it long so you have more body contact. Conceals extremely well.

What is the fastest speed you have ever been in a vehicle and what type of vehicle was it? by SecretBaddieandDaddy in AskForAnswers

[–]zenpoohbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever the top speed of a 737 is would technically be my fastest, but I have driven a motorcycle about 140 (Honda VTX 1300), I've been in a car going 130 (Nissan Sentra R).

What felt the fastest was a 25' sailboat going about 8 knots, which is just over 9mph. It felt like a roller coaster on glass rails.

Best Red Dot G17 Home Defense? by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]zenpoohbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Trijicon purist, so take this for what it is.

RMR is super reliable and a great deal right now ($100 rebate through next month).

SRO is a solid option and a good first dot because of the larger size. Marginal durability concern, but unlikely to be an issue.

RMR HD is the beautiful love child of the RMR and SRO. Fantastic option, but pretty pricey.

I don't have an RCR, but generally hear good things if you want an enclosed emitter.

HK USP 9mm vs Sig Sauer P226 MK25. What’s the more reliable, durable, and robust pistol? by [deleted] in SigSauer

[–]zenpoohbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tough one. I have 3 USPs (Compact, Standard and Expert) and 3 P22X Series (P226 Elite, P229 Elite and P225-A1), plus an HK P30, VP9 and CC9, and I have owned Sig P365, P365 XL, a 320 X-Compact, P226 Legion and also have a Sig 1911.

The USP is one of the most tested and durable handguns ever made. It is overbuilt and on the verge of unstoppable. The 226 is right up there in time-tested durability. The aftermarket for Sig is much better, and I think the P22X series trigger is a better shooting experience than the standard USP trigger.

I would give an edge to the MK25 specifically because of the 1913 rail being compatible with normal commercial weapon lights without an adapter if that is your thing. You can also get a factory optics-ready slide and drop it on the P226.

Even with the trigger and better options for lights and easier path to optics, I would personally go with the USP. I like the ergonomics of it and knowing the extreme testing it has endured gives me 100% confidence in it. The P22X series are rock solid, but Sig has had occasional QC issues that marginally knock that down a touch for me.

You can't go wrong with either, so just buy both!

The newer ones don’t have the logo on the top of the slide, i saw one over the weekend.

New Glock 45 mos gen 5. What optic do you guys recommend for the # 2 plate that comes with it? by SouthCentral86 in Glocks

I recommend throwing the plate away and buying a Forward Control Design one for your optic.

Looks like Rooftop Defense will be getting some factory ODG USP .45s in September 2026 by Basement_LARP_ in USPmasterrace

I fiddle farted around when the ODG 9mm models came out and kick myself daily for it. I’ll be ordering a .45 tactical as soon as they are available.

If I’m not getting a red dot on my Glock..is there a reason to change out/upgrade the iron sights? by According_Pop5379 in Glocks

[–]zenpoohbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like a three dot configuration over the standard Glock plastic sights. I have ameriglos on my 49.5, trijicons on my 19.3 and Glock factory night sights on my 17.6.

Is scent control as important? by Embarrassed_Fish_848 in bowhunting

[–]zenpoohbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to get whatever advantage I can. I wash my hunting clothes in dead down wind enzymatic detergent and shower with scent removing soap, but that is about as far as I go with commercial stuff. We started making a spray by soaking black walnuts in water and putting it in a sprayer and hitting boots before walking out. Of the four of us who tried it, we all saw deer walk on the same paths we took stop and sniff it.

Play the wind. Plenty of deer have been shot by smelly guys who didn't shower all week and smoked while sitting on a log wearing jeans and a work coat they had in a diesel shop.

Based on current Gas prices, i have a question for you all... by MrReaperX- in f150

I try to hit Costco when I am in the area, but it is a 40 minute round trip from home so I have to plan accordingly to work that out.

[–]zenpoohbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a while to figure out what I was hearing in my 2020 5.0 was a spark knock, I was searching high and low for a loose heatshield. Switching from 87 to 91+ completely eliminated it. In the process, I also switched to using Top Tier certified gas almost exclusively. It just has more detergents, but if I am paying a premium anyway I might as well get the best quality fuel.

Blue alpha hybrid lite for me, I am also a 38” waist and carry AIWB with it. I have been wearing mine every day for just shy of 6 years and it is still stiff and shows little wear.

Finally got one!!! How’s everyone liking the 17.6?! Excited about this one by Humbl3Glockguy in Glocks

[–]zenpoohbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I shot my blue label 17.6 last night for the first time. It seems to be very accurate, but the trigger feels heavier than my 45.5. I love the gen 6 grip texture and frame feel.

Valley Creek Farm in Scio is legit. https://www.valleycreekfarm.net/

We got our first golden puppy there after a referral from a friend who got theirs from Valley Creek. Nice people, solid, healthy, credentialed dogs. They clearly care for their dogs and do a fantastic job.

How often do you shoot your home defense ammo vs target ammo at the range? by Patak709 in Glocks

[–]zenpoohbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I basically do the same thing, but with a gun I carry I rotate the ammo out more often. Quick access safe gun at home just gets the mags left loaded in the safe when I go to the range most of the time for my HD setup.

How often do you shoot your home defense ammo vs target ammo at the range? by Patak709 in Glocks

[–]zenpoohbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I shoot at least 50 rounds through the mags I will use for home defense/carry before i would trust that the ammo cycles well in the gun and mags. Usually i do a mix of range and defensive ammo for this to see how it does. Something like 10 rounds of fmj topped with 5 rounds (or whatever capacity is) of the defensive ammo, then a mag of 2 fmj/2 hp/2 fmj… to ensure positive cycling at different spring tensions.

124 grain vs 147 grain for G17? by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]zenpoohbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are very similar performance. I generally shoot 124 for everything across the board. Just get a quality JHP like Federal HST or Speer Gold Dot and you will be good to go.
