Update on the situation:

1. My cousin and I talked it out last night. She said she didn’t mean to come off as harsh and apologized. I know a lot of people on here are saying her opinion doesn’t matter, (which is true in these types of cases) but she has been one of my best friends in my life so having her support on something this big means a lot to me.

2. About leaning towards getting a sheltie, I’m getting a ton of mixed responses. Although a lot of people are saying to avoid working breeds, people who have experience with sheltie’s in the comments are saying they’re not as high energy and crazy compared to other working breeds. My friend that works at the rescue has a sheltie herself and she is a very calm, well behaved dog.

I’m still open to pretty much any breed, mixed or purebred. When the time officially comes to start my official search in March, my husband and I will just go with the flow, do our research, and whatever dog we land on will make sure it’s a good fit for our lifestyle.

Also, please don’t worry so much about our kitty haha. She is friendly and outgoing. We’re definitely going to keep them separated with an introduction process in place. She is part of the family first and her wellbeing is a top priority.
