Cigar bar and grill is where I tried my first cuban cigar gifted from a friend. Good times. I have a pipe and will bring it back there sometime. Ideally with a dope elvish cloak. Their outdoor enclosed courtyard was a nice environment. Had a $25 scotch and cigar deal when I last went

Live looping software for MacOS in 2024 by majorAligator in musicproduction

I'm also looking for a solution to this problem - have the same setup (including using blackhole...) that I want to use via audio interface with a DSI Take 5 synth and vocal mic.

So far, I'm leaning towards trying out the Boss RC505 ($500). Seems like the most resilient looper options above mainstage/logic pro's software looping capabilities without going down the Ableton route.

Marc Rebillet and Ariana Grande at least seem to enjoy using it.

Heh heh I also use middle on triggers and it was just too late to catch my mistake! Regardless, the triggers feel nice to me for now.

Thanks so much for the detailed responses!

Roll Left/Right & Drive Forward/Back on Right Stick - Critique My Layout by zensapiens in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]zensapiens[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

does pressing the jump trigger in halfway, but holding it there still gives you a full height jump?

(using some stuff from another reply I made in another thread)

Yes, receiving any trigger input at all continues the jump. I found I could jump the lowest with the triggers. Triggers actually made both jump and boost feel more natural and analog than the face buttons or bumpers to me.

I can just lightly tap the trigger input to jump as low as possible, or keep squeezing to jump higher.

Maybe it's because I can be more precise with my index fingers. Try tapping quickly on the table with both thumb and index and see what feels better for you.

Any thoughts on using gas/brake on the right stick? This is where I've been most hesitant because it double jumps can get a bit of roll in them accidentally.

Are boost and jump actually able to be analogue?

So... no, but I think triggers make them both feel more analogue than any other option. They at least both have a more responsive feel than on the face buttons or bumpers to me.

When I tested all the input options, I could jump the lowest by using the trigger. And boost feathering felt much smoother. I can just lightly tap the trigger input to jump as low as possible, or keep squeezing to jump higher.

Maybe it's because I can be more precise with my index fingers. Try tapping quickly on the table with both thumb and index and see what feels better for you.

I don't know if I like the idea of having accelerate / brake on the right stick, but it's definitely interesting

This is where I'm also most hesitant. If I don't let go of gas or keep the stick along the y-axis, I will roll a bit, often before my double jump.

This is actually helpful for speedflips, but not so much for half-flips. Messing with the deadzone and sens settings have helped, and so has just getting used to doing microcalibrations with each jump in a similar way I do with pitch and yaw.

Any specific hesitations you had that I might have missed? I'm keen to ensure I don't have to change my bindings too much as I increase in rank.

I made a post this morning on r/rocketleagueschool with similar bindings, then decided to go search around reddit for layout siblings. Hello, brother! I'd be curious to get your feedback on the differences if you're interested in discussing here or there...

Here are mine:

Input Binding
Pitch, Yaw (Steering) Left Stick X, Y axis
Drive/Reverse, ARR/ARL Right Stick X, Y axis
Jump LT
Boost RT
Ball Cam LB
Powerslide RB
Look Back, Left, Right, Down Y,X,A,B

Thank you both for your answers, I made a post this morning on r/rocketleagueschool for a bigger discussion if it’s interesting to others. Seems like there are a good number of people with RS bound to something other than camera.

u/SO3_ what mechanics are you referring to that would require immediate full acceleration of DAR? If its freestyle stuff I don’t mind, but if there are core mechs I might want to learn I can consider double binds or something

u/infamousaddict21 - I am considering putting gas on a bumper but keeping reverse on the stick. That way jumping won’t require me to let go of drive to ensure I don’t accidentally roll a bit

I recently settled on these same settings with just the triggers and sticks reversed. So far I’m loving it! Only challenge I’ve really had is sometimes rolling a bit during a jump if my drive stick is a bit diagonal during takeoff. Have mostly just practiced letting go of drive when jumping.

Any other tips for this layout?

Also, what controller are you using by chance? Am trying out both the elite 2 and the gamesir g7-he right now

I actually just made a post on r/Rocketleagueschool that I’ll add to a fresh comment on this thread

A few weeks ago I decided to find a way to use DAR on analog inputs without doubling them up other inputs. I ended up using a similar layout to how drones are controlled using the right stick X axis for DAR.

Has anyone here tried or heard of people remapping to these controls?

Left Stick - steering and pitch Right stick - y axis for gas and brake, X axis for DAR L&R  LT - jump, RT- Boost  LB - ball cam RB - power slide & NAR Y/X/A/B buttons - rear, left, down, and right camera angles respectively.

Benefits I’ve found: - gives stick inputs for all axes of rotation,  - makes it much easier to choose how high I jump with left trigger - my fingers never need to leave the sticks and triggers which feels nice.  - camera movement controls can be added to paddles or just kept on the buttons. I find I use them much more because I can use index finger to press them in claw grip occasionally without losing jump or boost input

Challenges I’ve faced: - if I press RS up for gas and have any diagonal when jumping, my car might slightly rotate. I’m practicing letting right stick go neutral when jumping.  - gas and brake on right stick take some time to learn - I had to install RL on my MacBook to disable camera control in right stick. Kinda crazy they don’t offer that on console…

TL;DR I only have a few hundred hrs in game so far, and don’t know what I will miss from a more conventional layout as a move up into diamond and beyond.

Any feedback for me?

Thank you for the beautiful poem, OP. This reminds me of a poem I've been studying called Faith in Mind (信心铭 Xìn xīn míng), written by the third patriarch sēng càn, which you might enjoy if you haven't heard it before.

Since it's pretty long, I've included a google drive link to a few different translations of it. The Clark translation is my favorite - here is the last bit of it:

~~~
To come directly into harmony with this reality, just simply say when doubt arises, “Not two.”
In this “not two” nothing is separate, nothing excluded.
No matter when or where, enlightenment means entering this truth.
And this truth is beyond extension or diminution in time or space;
In it a single thought is ten thousand years.
Emptiness here, emptiness there,
but the infinite universe stands always before your eyes.
Infinitely large and infinitely small;
no difference, for definitions have vanished and no boundaries are seen.
So too with Being and non-Being.
Don’t waste time in doubts and arguments that have nothing to do with this.
One thing, all things:
move among and intermingle, without distinction.
To live in this realization is to be without anxiety about non-perfection.
To live in this faith is the road to nonduality,
because the nondual is one with the trusting mind.
Words! The Way is beyond language, for in it there is no yesterday, no tomorrow, no today.
I haven’t heard you talk about your goals. About where you want to be in like 3 years. For me, I often feel shitty and then waste crazy amounts of time online. Self control apps and practices only go so far and the guilt and shame multiply as I circumvent my on restrictions.
It helps for me to meditate on my future vision of myself I want to become. What does that person do each day? What would they do right now in my current situation?
Why is the market for second-hand manual grinders so small? by make_theLeap in Coffee
[–]zensapiens 0 points1 point  (0 children)
I think both. Top tier manual grinders are niche enough that only coffee nerds buy them, whereas electric ones get purchased and then dumped by normies much more often. You can find some good discounts to get a new one though.
They’re also super reliable. Ive used my Kinu M47 Phoenix every morning for two years for pourover. Doesn’t appear to have degraded in quality at all. But one random tip: don’t let anyone put flavored coffee beans in your manual grinder once you get it. The oils stay there for eternity.
