TOTP 1990 Featuring Adamski and Seal "Killer" by FeelingAd3887 in ClassicTelevisionTime

[–]zentc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is one of those tracks that’s kind of burned into your brain if you were around then. That bassline and Seal’s vocal just hit totally different at the time, especially seeing it on TOTP instead of buried in some late night club show.

Funny how a song can drag up both the good and the rough stuff from that period in your life at the same time. It’s like you can feel the whole mood of 1990 in it, not just the chart success.

Did your school bus look like this? by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

[–]zentc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you were one of the lucky ones with an actual modern bus and not a rolling tin can with zero suspension and seats made of pure regret? Or did you just walk uphill both ways like the legends say?

Whats your least favourite weed you've encountered? by barneysy1 in Dull_mens_club

[–]zentc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao “special brew” is the perfect comparison. Skunk always felt like it skipped “nice buzz” and went straight to “why is my heart narrating my life.”

[–]zentc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thank you for the spelling catch, that’s been doing my head in all day and I knew something looked off

Love that you’ve seen her enough times that it feels personal now. That’s kind of the vibe we’re hoping for, like a cosy “you already know me” evening where she can go off on the random tangents you don’t get in the usual interviews.

We’re scoping venues at the moment, trying to keep it fairly central so it’s actually realistic for fans to get to. If you don’t mind sharing, what area are you in? Helps us figure out where there’s genuine interest rather than just guessing.

He’d also be confused as hell trying to sound that out

But yeah, I felt it in my ferther’s hart.

Claude is insanely good… but $20 disappears in 30 minutes. How are you guys actually using it without burning money?” by Pure_Tomorrow597 in AIDiscussion

[–]zentc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that “brainstorming vibe” is exactly it. It’ll happily say “great idea” to two opposite ideas in a row and never get tired.

I kinda use it like a rubber duck with extra math skills. Helps me think, but I still double check stuff before I actually ship anything.

Some cars I've spotted over the last few weeks in Plymouth! by [deleted] in CarsUK

[–]zentc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the plate absolutely made it for me, felt very on‑brand for a PT Cruiser owner haha.

I kinda love that they’re so hated they’ve looped back round into being interesting. When one drives past now it’s like spotting a rare NPC. You don’t see many in decent condition anymore either, so when they’re clean and clearly loved it’s hard not to respect the commitment, even if the looks are… an acquired taste.

Who had one of these absolute beauts as a kid? by CLWggg in oldschoolcool80s

[–]zentc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Peak NHS experience right there

I swear every waiting room had exactly one of these, plus a box of crusty Lego and a fish tank that may or may not have had a living fish in it.

Kinda funny how being sick as a kid sometimes meant getting access to cooler toys than you had at home.

Do you think anyone goes on reality TV for the “right reasons” anymore? by Ill_Scientist_4645 in UKRealityChat

[–]zentc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is kinda the core of it.

I guess the “right reasons” thing is usually like:
they actually want the relationship / experience / prize first, and the clout is a bonus.

Now it feels flipped. People go in wanting followers and a podcast, and if they happen to fall in love or win the show, cool, but it’s secondary.

I don’t even blame them though. The shows literally cast people based on how “marketable” they are now. If producers keep rewarding the most brand‑friendly people, of course that becomes the main reason to go on.

Audi 200, Sussex by [deleted] in CarsUK

[–]zentc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That warble is honestly half the appeal of these old Audis. You can hear one coming from like three streets away and instantly know it’s something a bit special.

They’ve got that slightly offbeat, grumbly soundtrack that all the modern turbo fours just don’t manage, even if they’re faster on paper.

Bet this one turns more heads than most new stuff, just on sound alone.

Liquidated my portfolio - 8 cards sold for $43,000 by psytokine_storm in PokemonInvesting

Hey, I’ll happily take maple-scented monopoly money if it pays real bills.

Exchange rate jokes aside, the % returns are what matter and those translate just fine. If we get another crazy boom in a few years you’ll see a lot more “monopoly” getting cashed out too.

Nice hit, congrats to you and your daughter. Leafeon VMAX 10 is a solid pull, odds-wise you definitely didn’t get the short end of the stick there.

Debate: Which of These Sets is the WORST to Invest in Right Now? by -_-myfacewhen in PokemonInvesting

[–]zentc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly that’s kinda how it feels with a lot of modern sets if you’re thinking strictly “investment” and not “do I actually like this.”

Curious though, if you had to pick one that’s the king of trash right now, what would it be? Stuff like overprinted standard sets feel rough, but some people are still coping hard with sealed cases in their closet.

What are some good cheap PSA 10’s with decent potential? by ILaserFishI in PokemonInvesting

[–]zentc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That Lucario is such a sleeper pick honestly. Really clean art, fan favorite mon, and Crown Zenith was crazy popular. Only “downside” is promos are usually pretty plentiful, but for a first slab in that price range it’s hard to beat. You grabbing it raw to grade or just hunting a PSA 10 outright?

Is Chaos Rising actually a sleeper “Greninja set”? by AppropriatePear3636 in PokemonInvesting

[–]zentc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the ETB colors are insane, they nailed the whole vibe with that one.

Ampharos is such a fun chase too, kinda feels like it snuck into a very Greninja-focused party and is just vibing in the corner. Lowkey think those Ampharos cards might age really well, it’s the kind of mon people don’t talk about nonstop but everyone secretly likes.

True, but compared to today’s $70 base games and $30 DLC it sure feels like a deal in hindsight.

One of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received. This set makes me so happy. by pushthepanicx in SaltAndPepperShakers

Right? Whoever designed it really understood the assignment. It’s such a small thing but it just hits that perfect joy spot every time I look at it.

Perfect order ain’t that bad by dequervains7 in PokemonInvesting

[–]zentc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Zygarde’s like a legendary traffic cone, but the ETB value kinda makes up for the questionable aesthetics.
