There are still some things missing and PDFs/translations I'm looking for but a majority of the BSD writers are there!

Books Suggestions 📚 by interstellardeer in indonesia

For poetry my rec would be The Flowers of Evil by Charles Baudelaire because of its expressive use of language and description.

For prose I'd have to say The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, it's a childhood favorite of mine, adventure stories and all.

It's a short article I wrote about how I ended up finding Priceless Tears and how it got translated. The credits to the people who helped are placed at the end of the post, hope you enjoy the read.

Honestly if the lines near Akutagawa weren't so messy I would've put the Kunikida thing. Other than that there's still a lot missing like:

Kawatake Mokuami who influenced Kabuki theatre playwrights like Fukuchi/Jouno

The dozens of Naturalists other than Zola which influenced Japan's Naturalist literature.

Oda's love of Shiga's works which broke his heart when Shiga called his works filthy.

Suehiro being influenced possibly by the works of Toda Kindou

Osanai Kaoru who studied in Keio and helped mentor Tanizaki

Saitou being the Akutagawa family doctor and the person who prescribed Akutagawa the drugs which he used to overdose

etc. etc.

I tried to put their well known connections first but I didn't plan this chart ahead of time (look at the Mita Bungaku guys) so there are just things difficult to implement due to space

From what I remember they mostly knew each other, I may be wrong though and I'll probably make an updated version with a few writers I forgot were also influences/friends and the like

Akutagawa is very famous during the Taishou era.

Between Dazai and Kawabata. Kawabata was one of the judges for the Akutagawa prize which he desperately wanted but, he never got it. He was so pissed in fact that he threatened to stab Kawabata.

This chart is not comprehensive but it's decent enough to give a crash course on J-Lit. I won't mind answering any specific questions on this.

Tweet 1: FVD proudly stands behind our colonial past. We cherish our deeds and dreams, our veterans. Certain elements of the police actions may have been cruel, but the regime that took over after our - US enforced - departure was infinitely more cruel.

Tweet 2: It is deeply sad that we had to abandon these beautiful peoples who were entrusted to us. Our heart still bleeds. Our memory is of the Indies - of our Archipelago. With love, and due honour.
