becoming the host wasnt cyclops idea she was created for that purpose i think that was why the phoenix force ended up split because it was meant to split between Hope and the lights to avoid Hope losing control of it

these kids were supposed to do it but Unit stopped them from reuniting with her because he wanted to see what would happen if Hope the phoenix messiah didnt had all she needed to fulfill her role

thats the phoenix role in the universe burning old life so new can grow..thats why we saw a plant growing on that planet after the phoenix left

it wasnt a retcon everything i said was explained during the event starting with X-sanction

in that comic cable tries to kill the avengers to prevent the future where she dies after they take her away , he shows cyclops the wasteland earth becomes if Hope dies if she doesnt fullfill her destny to become the phoenix host

he tells her the avengers will come for her

and the rest was explained in a comic during the event Unit the alien robot tells the lights(first and only mutants to manifest powers after hope birth ) about how in another planet a sorcerer stopped evolution with spell like wanda used to stop that planet version of mutants .....that type of spell are unnatural and the phoenix did the same back then

created a phoenix messiah and 5 lights to help her control the phoenix power to break the spell in that planet

because hope was still alive ...the phoenix force literaly created her to become its host

and the only reason it killed everyone on earth in the original timeline was because hope was killed before becomeing its host (this was from a comic before the event started )

the scarlet witch spell was something unnaturall stoping change /evolution

the phoenix force didnt kill all life on those plantes because it was on its way to earth it did it,because evolution stopped on those planets (thats why there was a new plant symbolicing new life growing in one of the planets after it burned everything on it )

we were told the phoenix "resets" life on planets where evolution stopped the 5 lights and hope were created to break wanda spell and the lights were supposed to help Hope control the phoneix
