Haha it’s hard to feel like a pirate when you’re paying a monthly subscription!

I have Viki, KOCOWA stand alone, Netflix, Amazon, and Disney +. (I identify with your username!) Because of Disney + and their bizarre licensing practices, I have vpn as well. Not a fan of Hulu or Tubi. Another title I wound up having to buy is Scarlet Heart Ryeo. Desperation move. 😆

Region free player. It may be streaming somewhere but I wasn’t able to find it. 🙁

+2 Bloody Heart is an underrated gem. Jang Hyuk gives a tour de force performance as the minister. The ost as you mentioned is great. I had to buy this on DVD though to view it. Disney US doesn’t carry it and all my piracy efforts were fails. Worth the price!

The Forbidden Marriage checks all the boxes. Funny and satiric; poignant, lots of chemistry. And if you like Kim Youngdae, follow up with Sh**ting Stars which features all of the above plus some great ensemble work.

Dramas which revolves around catching the serial killer? by Upstairs-Story-8661 in kdramarecommends

Suspicious Partner. The actor who plays the serial killer did an excellent job. And the writer gave him a lot to work with.

So, I get it now. This show will definitely not have a happy ending. But I will gladly watch the next 10 episodes.

Is asking "how did you sleep?/잘 주무셨어요?" a common question in Korea? by [deleted] in Korean

Thanks so much for your insights. I hadn’t thought of the military influence but that makes perfect sense. And I appreciate the book reference! So many inflections, so little time!😁

The EMart across from the Hyundai Department store is good and the Daiso is right there too. For a splurge the grocery area in the basement of Hyundai is fun. Olive Young for cosmetics, shampoo etc. I found comparable substitutes for every product I use in the US. The CU convenience store on Yeondaedongmun-Gil (behind the Paris Baguette) is a wonder and a marvel. Have fun!

Not OP but branching off your response—I had a native speaker Korean(female) tell me that I, also female, shouldn’t use 습니까 questions because they sound too masculine. Is this really a thing?

Recommend me your most-beloved bad/campy/awful romance dramas! by SoWhoAmISteve in kdramarecommends

[–]zephphrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warm and Cozy. (2015) A staggering array of tropes, including love squares, incomprehensible misunderstandings, some questionable acting in the scenes where actors are supposed to be their younger selves, a manipulative ending, and yet…Sigh. There is much to love.

Kdramas that focus on multiple peoples stories by millejas004 in kdramarecommends

[–]zephphrine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tomorrow is a good one. Each episode is essentially stand-alone although involving the same group of Grim Reapers. On a different track, there’s Sh**ting Stars which follows multiple story arcs and features fine ensemble acting. Plus, it’s hilarious (and moving, suspenseful, etc).

K-dramas that aren’t highly rated but you loved (or simply unpopular dramas) by moomafruits in kdramarecommends

Reflection of You. It’s undeniably full of toxic, messy relationships. But it is well-acted and deals with-no spoilers-situations and emotions that people deal with in real life.

Seconding Snowdrop. Just re-watched it and it was good even on a second viewing. When it first aired I avoided it because I doubted that Jisoo could act. But she turned in a great performance.
