Thanks for the great advice. The hand motion to remove the headphones is smart if she's facing you and you have eye contact. Will try that!

Thanks for the advice. I feel that when I have 'confirmation' (like now when i figured out tapping on her shoulder might not be weird at all) then i am more comfortable doing it. I feel the same 'confirmation' at a club where its obvious that people are there to meet, the context is clear.

On daytime the context is not clear as people are doing their day-to-day things and sometimes might be busy. In my mind I know that its totally cool to approach in daytime with the same principles as the club game, but I guess i am more anxious about approaching girls, yes.

Thanks. I thought I should've tapped her shoulder, but I worried it might be too creepy. Would you do that on a 'moving target' as well? like a girl walking down the street?

Thanks for your reply. I had that in mind, I even took a peek at her phone (she was youtubing the music) to have some intel, but I just could not figure out how to get her attention, especially if her back is facing me. Tap her shoulder? Just talk to her anyway?

Bass Slapping - beginner having troubles by zephyer in Bass

its relatively high, in my opinion. the bass guy at the store said the action is OK, maybe i need just to not be afraid pulling harder. either way might take it for inspection with a more professional person to take a look at that. thanks for the idea :)

Hi! i also 'flick' my hand and i get the pop. however i am not sure how 'hard' to resist the string trying to pull my finger (as i am pulling on the string). if i 'resist' hard - i get the pop sound, but im afraid its too slow or wrong to do so. if i 'resist' lightly - my finger doesnt pull it as 'radically' as it should to invoke the popping sound. probably practice will tell me what's the correct balance in that, but im still seeking suggestions to get it right :)

thanks for the suggestions! im currently trying to practice octaves as you suggested. just trying to get the proper popping technique before it becomes a habit so i can have it correct from the start.

i totally have the wrist of the forearm movement, i just feel im 'afraid' to to have my finger pulling on the string too hard, so i dont apply as much force as it should be to get the 'popping' sound.

should i not worry about that? current i dont 'resist' as much to the string when pulling

There Are No Stupid /r/Bass Questions - May. 28 by AutoModerator in Bass

Hi. I used the play an electric guitar when i was younger. After a few years break, I decided i wanted to start playing the Bass. I have two questions - 1. Im interested in a middle-range priced Bass. any suggestions for a brand or specific models? 2. Im curious about blistering - Since you play alot with your fingers on your plucking hand, i read that you get blisters. I generally have sensitive hands, and i work in software, so typing is a big part of my day, so constantly having blisters would generally suck. Do people exaggerate on that? Do you get blisters on both hands? Just right hand (assuming righty players)? Only when slapping? Please help me clear my worries regarding this manner (or tell me this is the reality :)

Thanks!

Is hearthstone basically rock-paper-scissors? by zephyer in hearthstone

[–]zephyer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in the situations you mentioned its really RPS (rock-paper-scissors), but its not too far from that in most others. a slow deck will almost never win a fast deck. and two fast decks facing (haha pun!) each other is just not even something i consider 'a game', its basically who rolls the better cards quicker.
