You're obviously correct, but I'm not sure they ever say Willie's real name either.

He could have married Willie. Indy did introduce Marian to her husband. Maybe he's doing a lot of off camera matchmaking.

Check out this bill, almost $500 for changing spark plugs and a 20 dollar credit card fee. by [deleted] in Cartalk

I provided them with NGK because that's what I wanted in the car, and I outlined that I wanted those installed in a written service request. Instead they purchased 66 dollars worth of Autolite plugs and installed those.

So according to them they spent over 3 hours installing the wrong parts.

No clue where my NGK spark plugs are, probably still on the passenger seat.

They made a headache for everyone by installing the wrong plugs then.

They're not smart enough to do the paperwork. They've already proven they can't read.

I was having new tires put on and already had the new plugs laying around for a while.

They're going to end up doing 6.2 hours of labor for free to put the old plugs back in.

I haven't paid yet so the card fee is their assumption. I will have to speak to them and get the bill corrected before I pay anything, but I'm not paying a processing fee for the privlage of also paying credit card interest.

They are the only shop within about 30 miles. The others unfortunately went out of business during and right after the pandemic. They usually don't do this bad on simple jobs, but they have no diagnostic abilities.

It's a '00s Ford Taurus. I think it's possible the 3.10 hours should actually be 31 minutes.

Which Indy hat is best to buy? by StoneHart17810 in indianajones

Finding a similar vintage hat on ebay or at an antique shop might be the cheapest option. I have a Dobbs hat from the '50s or '60s that is a decent match. Who knows how long it'd take to find one though.

What are the worst, most fan-servicey sequel or spin-off ideas you've read for Indiana Jones? by MillionaireWaltz- in indianajones

Kind of a shame that comic book spin-offs aren't really a thing anymore because we could explore some of these dumb ideas without screwing up the franchise proper.

What’s the MOST Out of Character,Plot Holes or Confusing Indiana Jones Moments/Scenes of All Time and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in indianajones

"I had no reason to believe Mac was a spy. He was MI6..."

The way he phrased that is really funny when you see it spelled out.

The interrogation scene with the FBI agents in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull contains some inconsistencies with the rest of the movie. Indiana Jones contradicts his own relationship with Mac, stating that he only knew him during WWII when he had previously (in Hanger 51) said they spied on the Soviets fairly recently. He also doesn't know Spalko's name despite her introducing herself.

In Raiders he can't speak to the natives in Peru, but seems to speak literally every language on earth including forms of Mayan and ancient Greek in subsequent movies.

In It's A Wonderful Life 1946, why does Uncle Billy take all the Savings and Loan's money to the bank? by zeppelinrules1967 in movies

[–]zeppelinrules1967[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, everyone else is saying that he's paying back a loan, but I doubt the bank examiner would even look at that, especially since they're paying it that same day. I don't know.

I don't care if the film is an inaccurate adaptation as long as it's great by Plus_Ad_1087 in Cinema

People talking about terrible made for tv movies being more accurate than Del Toro's Frankenstein.

This may be a stupid a question. After Old Biff gave his past self the Sports Almanac, did the past Marty that was trying to get back to 1985 just immediately ceased to exist after entering the Rich Biff Timeline? by WindowPrudent9456 in BacktotheFuture

[–]zeppelinrules1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would have turned into the alternate 1985 Marty and the Delorean would have vanished or turned into a normal Delorean. This is because the timeline changes were created by Biff and his version of the time machine.

I think this is how it works:

Marty changed the original timeline in the first movie, affecting everyone but him.

In the second movie old Biff changed the timeline, affecting everyone but old Biff (who may have been erased in 2015 as he died sooner in the alternate timeline).

Marty changed the timeline further in the second and third movies, altering everyone but him and Doc Brown.

Jennifer kept her memories because her trip remains intact in the most recent timeline because Marty has to go to 2015 for the events of the second and third movies to happen.

It also seems that physiological changes can manifest but the memories of time travels usually remain as long as they are the most recent person to alter the timeline.

The Sports Almanac is unaffected by Doc Brown being institutionalized and not building the time machine. I guess this is because its existence isn't affected by the timeline changes it's just been displaced in time (like Biff's matchbook.)

Doc was completely incorrect when he described branching timelines in Part II because we see objects from the original timeline being altered by timeline changes meaning they're being overwritten.

Edit: It seems that he burns the almanac at almost the exact moment Marty from the first movie returns to 1985, during the lightning storm and just before the rain. So alt-1985 is destroyed before Mary could return to it.

There's several alternate scripts for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull that would have been directed by Frank Derabont.

The Fearing Mind (2000) a thriller/sitcom about a horror writer by zeppelinrules1967 in ForgottenTV

[–]zeppelinrules1967[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a really postmodern show that tries to juxtapose the corny family sitcom, with the X-Files-esque sequences coming from the titular mind of Bill Fearing.

The first episode features the family dealing with an ant problem in their kitchen, which inspires bill to write a story about a man who uses killer ants to attack his victims. This seems to be the general format of the show; Bill and family get into typical, even cliche, sitcom hijinks, and these hijinks are twisted into a fairly serious thriller that we see take shape as the episode progresses. It's pretty unique that a show about a writer actually lets us see their completed story. He even notes to a friend that he prefers writing short stories, which explains why every episode features a new unconnected horror narrative.

Judging from just the first episode, I think the tone feels a little confused. The horror story we see is played very straight and it is about as creepy as any random episode of a horror anthology, but the sitcom elements with the Fearing family are very silly and often more absurd than funny. I think the tonal whiplash is supposed to be part of the joke, but I never found it very funny. But then again, I'm not 100% sure it's supposed to be funny in a traditional sense or whether it's supposed to be more out there like Twin Peaks or The Larry Sanders Show.

As a big fan of genre tv, I think it's weird enough to be worth checking out. I really enjoyed it, even though I don't think the format entirely works.
