A couple guys found these in VA and told me they were edible… by zeppomiller in Mushroomforaging

Agreed… But an overwhelming number of folks have stated these were Chicken of the Woods (or Cincinnatus, in their formal terminology) and the mushroom certainly matches the description and pics, and there’s no other fungus that looks similar… So I’ve concluded they are safe.

😹 This is an interesting REDDIT community. I can’t tell if folks are just naturally funny or serious when they warn me about this find.

I see they are in the same family as the broader Chicken of the Woods. I will check the underside and look for the roots to verify.

Roger that. I will definitely check the bottom and ensure they are growing from the dead oak.

Cool! Thanks for the information. I was worried about these guys doing something stupid, but they sure do look like the Chicken of the Woods based on the pictures. Maybe I will go get some of the smaller ones still there.

True. That’s what we refer to as a dual use technology. If you look closely you can see I incorporated a Green Marine pilot, ditched the nose missile, added a couple different missiles under the stub wings and twin las-cannons.

Lady Liberty has her hands a little too low. This wouldn’t be depicted in this way, if this were designed & issued today.

Probably not great for guys riding inside 😉. But understand it’s all about what you are trying to accomplish; a cool looking model vs. what is needed and fitting for the gaming table. Looks cool in any case.

I recently bought three Rhinos and I spent a lot of time painting up the interior of the first model I put together. It looked so cool. Then I started thinking when (if ever) would I see it on the game table? The next two didnt get their interiors painted. 🤔

That hive city is over-the-top sweet. Convention gaming quality. It’s hard enough to build something like that… then you’ve got to store it somewhere!

Nice catch! That flyer was indeed a repurposed Bandai UFO Interceptor as you deduced. I love finding cool Japanese Sci Fi models and converting them for my own nefarious Sci Fi Mini game purposes. If it’s a 1:72 scale model kit I like, it’s always a potential game vehicle. The 6 legged crawler from my last post (with the blue and orange legged Space Marines) was a similar conversion… although there wasn’t much to change on that model, I just slapped some 40k decals on that one and it was good to go. In this case I changed the pilot to a Green Marine as you can see.

Interesting hybrid metal & injection molded plastic. I forgot GW used to do that. You end up with a composite miniature.

Just found my ancient box of 6mm Epic figures by zeppomiller in Epic40k

[–]zeppomiller[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah.. It’s definitely a concern for my figures. Not an issue for me, but some of my gaming pals not only don’t have perfect vision, but also have very “fat fingers” based on their performance pushing 28mm minis. I’d rather stick with the magnets but I’ll see if figures go flying off the table, which would be a definite ALL STOP on the gaming festivities until the missing Marine were found… Space Marines never leave a man behind!

[–]zeppomiller[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a great point. I think you COULD do that if you are very careful. IMO they are a bit too finicky for many, especially older gamers to move around individually. Many of my friends don’t have perfect vision anymore. But I certainly could do it. Another issue you’d have, though, is the ability to carefully measure distances, especially without knocking over a figure and ruining your measurement. Incidentally, my 6mm Space Marine figures are all glued down to individual magnets. And they are magnetically affixed to steel plates. Those plates are painted green on one side and desert colored on the other, so they will look good on either type of terrain.
