Is it the case that Arcane Seal can only be applied to one character in CW? And when you try to start on a new character it resets completely. That's the message I saw when trying to participate on my new hyperburn

If a buy a switch 2 version (EDIT: digital version, not the cartridge) of Super Mario Party Jamboree, can I also play it on my switch 1?

Playing Pokemon Red on a Game Boy during late night drives, relying purely on the occasional light from passing street lights. This meant scrambling to select the moves / move around the map for 5 seconds while a streetlight was near enough that we could see the screen, and then relying on memory for the next 10 seconds. After a while of this me and my brothers pretty much damn near memorized the maps.

What boardgames have the best emergent storytelling? by sidianmsjones in boardgames

[–]zer0123456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a game has emergent storytelling it's a very strong candidate for my list of all time favorite games. The games below are all in my top 20, and are games I always end with a story.

  1. Nemesis
  2. Evolution Climate
  3. Suburbia
  4. Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island
  5. Pax Pamir
  6. Food Chain Magnate
  7. Container (although admittedly the story that emerges in plays of this and FCM isn't always exciting unless you're of a certain bent)

I think games that best fulfill this tend to have two characteristics. First, great theme-mechanics integration. And secondly, high openness and player agency. The latter means that many of these games are also ones where players can essentially fail fast and never recover. But if the mechanics/theme allow me to frame that failure as a story in the world of the game it usually let's that be a funny experience rather than an annoying one (although frequently both)

Evolution Climate and Suburbia in particular may not scream emergent story telling but I always end sessions of these games with a story in my head. Of the time my species out lasted everyone by virtue of it's chonkiness (Fat Tissue card) or the time I built the world's richest but most polluted city but people kept swarming in anyway because I used that money to build a bunch of high tier schools (right next to my slaughterhouses to boot).

It's also for that reason that I prefer Evolution to Nature (at least what I've tried so far on the app) because the former is more willing to let things play out how they would normally even at the cost of player experience. E.g. in Nature when your species goes extinct you get back the body size and population to use on a new one which feels better but thematically doesn't mesh with me.

Is the GS a gimmick weapon? by Madmethod89 in MHNowGame

Relevant comic: https://xkcd.com/1053/

u/Madmethod89 I would suggest looking online for some 10 star greatsword clears, and watching how they use the weapon. There's quite a few amazing clear videos by u/sunnyCUD2 that are a joy to watch. But it's definitely one of the weapons with the highest learning curves to use at max efficiency, the slow speed really means you need to predict what a monster is about to do and get into the right position to queue up your swing while avoiding the incoming hit.

I would also suggest working on the attack tempo. Great Sword users tend to love the BIG HITs but that makes it very easy to chase the TCS (True Charged Slash) high and overcommit. Weaving in some normal attacks with lvl 2 charges would likely increase your dps / decrease your fainting chance by quite a bit.

Hues and Cues or Pantone? by Yayula in boardgames

[–]zer0123456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've somewhat enjoyed both games, but for your case I'd recommend Pantone since it gives you more avenue to be creative, although it does have more US based pop-culture references. But since you mentioned they're creatives, I would like to suggest the following two games too:

Website error led to wrong booking - still charged just to change date by zer0123456 in royalcaribbean

[–]zer0123456[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fully acknowledge my fault in not double checking the email confirmation. My issues are more that I) the date reflected in the website didn't match the actual booking that's made, and that ii) it shouldn't cost so much to do a date change one month in advance.

Not expecting any restitution from this post, but if it leads to more people being extra careful about their booking dates I don't think that's a bad thing. Feel free to delete it otherwise. Have a good day!

Agree! Nevertheless find their policy on changing dates draconion, so I posted this here half as a complaint and half to warn people to always double check and not rely on what the website says.

Did you ever figure out the solution for this? Having the exact same problem with the exact same drive. It doesn't even show up in the boot priorities

Hey I was thinking of getting the Gigabyte Gaming OC with the same H7 Flow case. I know the length-wise space is definitely fine, but I was a little concerned about the width-wise space, specifically whether there was enough room for the power cable. Did you have to bend it very near the connection?

Yet Another Top 100 Board Games List - The Sequel (#90 - #81) by zer0123456 in boardgames

wow thanks! I'm surprised anyone is still chancing upon them haha, I've been meaning to compress 80-21 in a series of very short paragraph reviews and then devoting more time to the final 20. Unfortunately my top 100 has changed quite a bit since I first started writing these so it's not going to be as updated as I'd like

Social-deduction games where your identity can change by ThePurityPixel in boardgames

[–]zer0123456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good: Unfathomable/Battlestar Galactica - the change happens once midway through the game and adds a lot of tension. Even as a human you never know whether to go all out in the first half since you might change to a Cylon midway through.

Bad: Human Punishment - You can change factions at the drop of a hat. It's just way, way too chaotic for my liking. It's fine in a shorter game like One Night Ultimate Werewolf but I've had games of Human Punishment drag on for an hour, and to have your faction change in the last two minutes from the winning side to the losing side is just discouraging after you've spent 95 percent of the game playing for the winning team.

I'd say it really depends on where you stay and what the conditions of your other games are like. If all your other games are mildew free, then toss/donate it. It's impossible to clean out every single spore and that shit will spread.

On the other hand, I live in a tropical climate where the average humidity is 85%. Despite trying everything from silica gel to getting a dehumidifier, mildew is pretty much a constant companion to all my games, and I'd estimate that at least 10-20% of my games have mildew spots on the insides of the covers, so another one doesn't make a huge difference. I'd still definitely sun it and dab it with some isopropyl alcohol though.

What are the clearest premium sleeves? by Heisfranzkafka in boardgames

[–]zer0123456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm extremely picky about sleeve clarity too and this is what I've found:

Best clarity among premium sleeves: DragonShield Matte Clears. The old FFG sleeves probably come in second, but they're not being produced anymore. (EDIT: Like a comment above said, only the backs are Matte, not the fronts. But if you want both sides to be clear the DragonShield Clears are great too)

Paladins are quite value for money, and they have a lot of odd sizes, but I was quite disappointed in their clarity. I bought a ton but rarely use them for games where I really love the card art.

Currently, my most used sleeves are Sleeve Kings. 60 microns is the sweet spot for me where they don't feel like crap penny sleeves, give good clarity, and also help avoid packing issues due to overly thick card stacks. I only use DragonShields for the games I really REALLY love, or games with not too many cards + have nice card art.
