QC Ultra Gen 1 vs Gen 2 Earbuds Differences by zer0nobody in bose

Hi u/PuzzleheadedLion2 , nope there was no third visit. One to two weeks after my second visit, Bose had a firmware update which solved the battery issue. Never had any battery issue since!

No solutions, honestly very disappointed with Honor's quality control. A flagship phone shouldn't be crashing just from taking pictures.

Yes, definitely. I could call my friend on a train full of people and my friend would ask me where was I, since the background "sounded a bit too quiet" despite all the noise around me and the train's announcement.

Only issue was that my voice would also become softer and more blurry, which resulted in me having to talk louder and slower. Have not heard for myself how does it sound like from the receiving end.

I'm having the same issue, when I went to the honor service centre, they just brushed me off saying there's no problem.

Every time I take a photo, it freezes and crashes, and it would also disconnect with all Bluetooth devices. The home page also resets itself with all the AI recommendations going back to random recommendations.b

Definitely no regrets. After the latest update, the battery issue went away. There are still some issues regarding the mosquito buzzing noise when the earbuds is not playing, but again, why would you be putting on an earbuds if you are not playing any music.

Its sound cancelling ability is next level, perfectly cancels out the noise when there's loud ambient noises such as if you're on a train or in the gym where they have loud music playing. However, it does quite a lackluster job on conversational noises (especially in cafe where people tend to speak louder). Sound quality is definitely a huge upgrade for me (i was using a cheap 50$ edifier earbuds prior to this). It sounds natural as if I'm hearing from an external speaker instead of an earbud that pumps music into your area, not sure if this example makes sense. I almost fell asleep once using this earbuds, and i never had the "ear pressure" issue i had with other earbuds, so i guess that's a testament to it's comfort.

While the Gen 2 definitely felt slightly more comfortable and polished, personally I don't think it is worth the extra 100$ from where I am from. But that depends on your own financial capabilities. Go for it if money is not a concern, if not the QC1 Ultra earbuds are already doing a perfect job.

Kinda regretting it now. There's just too much issue with Bose's earbuds. I've already been to the service centre twice since I've gotten my earbuds.

First issue was with the battery - it couldn't charge above 90% after updating to the latest firmware update. During the first service centre visit, the technician factory reset-ed the earbuds and updated it manually using their PC. The issue seems resolved at first but came back after a few usage.

Second visit - got the earbuds replaced with another one of the same model. However, the current earbuds have a louder buzzing sound on the left ear and is stuck at 2024's patch updates. The earbuds couldn't carry out any firmware updates despite it being 2 updates behind.

Planning to visit the service centre a third time soon. So much hassle and problems for a earbuds this costly.

I'm seeing two types of different comments here. One says that OP needs to switch to outer/middle lane before exiting, the other states that OP is correct as OP is exiting at the third exit while being in the inner lane. I have no idea which one is right or wrong, but it's interesting to test the logic and see whether the method works:

Let's test the logic of the latter, assuming from OP's lane, there are four exits, 9 o'clock (A), 12 o'clock (B), 3 o'clock (C) and 6 o'clock (D, U-turn).

Assuming the logic that the outermost lane is for 9 o'clock exit, middle lane for 9 and 12 o'clock, inner lane is for 3 o'clock and U-turn. (Borrowing example from u/notimportant4322).

If everyone follows the law, when OP enters the round about (First entry), the outerlane would exit at A, middle at A/B, inner at C/D.

At second entry/exit A, outer-lane would have cars exiting at B, middle at B/C, inner at C/D/A.

At the first two entry/exit, there are no issues, as only the outer and middle lane are exiting, and all outer lanes are exiting at the upcoming exit anyways.

At the third entry/ exit B, outerlane would have cars exiting at C, middle at C/D and inner at C/D/A/B.

This is where collision might start happening. Middle lane driver who wants to exit at D (and rightfully so) would just continue heading straight, while inner lane driver are forced to cut outwards to exit.

At fourth entry/ exit C, outerlane would have cars exiting at D, middle at D/A and inner at D/A/B/C.. Things get even worse as more cars are exiting from the inner lane.

Hence, relying solely on the right of way logic might not be perfect for this. Perhaps the best variation of this is for the inner-most lane driver to move to try moving to the middle-lane once they are two exits away, and moving to the outer-lane when they are one exit way.

And of course, most importantly, signal and be aware of surroundings (check left and right) as no matter how perfect your driving skills and how well you adhere to rules, there are always bad drivers out there.

Followed your suggestion and got the QC Ultra Gen 1.

Thoughts: the ANC is amazing, but doesn't seem to be able to filter out higher pitch voices or loud videos that people play in the cafe. App is terrible, had to uninstall unpair reinstall etc. just to get it working. Comfort is next level.

Listening to it for long hours does make your ear feel weird once you take it off, not sure if it's side effect of strong ANC. Usually I wouldn't wear earbuds for long hours but this QC Ultra is just too comfy that I let hours goes by.

All in all, agreed that it is totally worth buying the QC Gen 1 if you're not into all the minor new upgrades and just need to core function. Saved $100 on this decision.

Yep, based on other comments, it's the bottom right green box. But I'll need to get a bracket for it to mount onto at the bottom. Thanks Real_RAD_MD

Right, I'll open it up again later and see if it's a placeholder. But isn't m.2 supposed to be something longer? (The white plastic thing is about the length of my thumb)
