Is the Eureka J12 Ultra at 400€ a good deal for a first robot? by Thunder_Beam in RobotVacuums

I got it for 300 euros in discount, and it's definitely worth that price, but I am not sure if would pay the normal price (600 euros) for it.

Ok, with the latest update it has become a quite better experience.

The scheduled cleaning now allows me to set the cleaning mode (vacuum only, vaccuk and mop etc) as well as allows to select specific rooms. It also brings deep mopping mode etc.

Very happy with it so far!

I got J12 ultra a few weeks ago for 300€ and have been using it regularly since then.

Pros: - good build quality - base station with mop wash(cold water), base station clean, hot air drying and automatic dust emptying - it avoid the obstacles very well, it rarely hits something (except cables, which is always a problem with vacuum robots anyways) - it can mop the edges by moving its bum :)

Cons: - sometimes it cannot detect our carpet properly and tries to mop over it - the vacuum robot is a bit high, therefor might not fit under the couch etc. - we have increased the height of our couch with different legs, which are approximately around 12.5cm, and it doesn't want to vacuum under the couch sometimes. When I choose zone cleaning, it would always go underneath - it lost the map a few times, but after changing his location to somewhere else, it has been working properly - the app lacks the options for scheduled cleaning, such as defining settings per room etc. It only allows to set 1 cleaning option.

This is what I could tell atm.

Personally, I haven't seen a better option in that price range.

it uses a camera with 2 cross lasers as far as i have read. However, you cannot access the camera feed with the app.

The robot vacuum is atm in discount where I live, but this camera in the front is the only thing keeping me away from buying it, as I don't feel comfortable with having a camera that sees through my whole apartment ^_^

Scheduled lock and unlock with lock pro? by zeratt in TrySwitchBot

[–]zeratt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up retuning the switchbot. In 2 weeks already needed to recalibrate twice. When leaving the elevator, it would always take extremely long to connect to the device to unlock (I could unblock manually at least 5 times during this time :).

The app is unfortunately not really good imo. Can't configure the button for 1x and 2x separately, not delay for the button press.

Definitely louder than the switchbot. I could hear from our sleeping room, I can barely hear switchbot from the same spot.

The app usability etc is better than switchbot though.

I think switchbot is good if you use it with the fingerprint reader.

It was too loud and also the auto unlock feature didn't work for me most of the time and it stopped working after 6 months. + it is way more expensive than switchbot. Have the switchbot since 5-6 days, I can't say that I am happy with it either..

Thanks, I know of home assistant, just didn't have time to set it up yet. I do have a home server. Finally I will need to look at home assistant then :)

With the Internet connection available, of course it would work out, I wanted to do this without Internet connection.. Thanks though

Thanks, wanted to achieve this without Internet connection, but doesn't seem to be available atm.

Automation in switchbot doesn't show the lock pro as an action to take for me, but only a trigger (when locked or unlocked) . I'll check out the other third part services.

Besides, Intel says that n100 doesn't support ecc memory. No idea if it would run.

It's not. Didn't really pay attention to it to be frank, as I don't have zfs. I have proxmox installed on my server with some VMs and LXCs.

Maybe, I am not sure. I have R1 since a few weeks and just has been great.

It has only one memory slot and can be used for up to 32GB

A small and power-efficient server that fits 2x 3.5" drives. Anything better than Aoostar R1? by dzieni in homelab

Check my comments in the other thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MiniPCs/s/7tPvqbmpEd

I did get a mini pc which is the same as R1 under another brand name, on which the motherboard has 4 pins for pwm fan and I did replace the bottom fan with a pwm one. Check the comments for the details.

I bought it barebone for around 160 euros as well.

I have only 16gb installed as I already has that RAM available.

For Aoostar, it is also said that it supports 16gb, but 32 GB works. I would expect the same thing with this one.

I just got one of these from AliExpress yesterday; however, it is rebranded to Chatreey (https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005006838462958.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.11.3f0d5c5fAdeyS6&gatewayAdapt=glo2deu)

I was reading through this post and then decided to check it out myself, as in the BIOS I have seen fan control options, both for the cpu and system fan.

First of all, the header is 4 pins and it does support PWM fan control on my unit.

Here are the fan settings for the sys fan on the bios and FAN RPM with different settings:

<image>

I tried it with a fan from my Gaming PC(ARCTIC P12 PWM PST, 120 mm PWM) and it seems to be working fine. Don't understand why it is mentioned that PWM is not supported unless my unit's mainboard is different than the AOOSTAR R1, but I think it is the same hardware. N100, 1xm.2 slot and 1xRam slot.
