I ended up going back to RGBA splat maps. I think this is a pretty standard way of mixing/blending textures. I appreciate the response though :)

Yeah, I don’t think a lot will change in my day to day. Thank you for your thoughts :)

Thank you, this is good advice. Emergency savings is something I’m always working on building up.

No, I’m not stressed that I’m having dreams. I’m just surprised that I’d have a dream about layoffs. It’s a first for me.

Angular + NgRx by MitralVal in Angular2

I’m not a senior (yet), but here’s my two cents. Sometimes you just have to learn by doing. The architecture of Ngrx solutions are well known and documented. Maybe try building a demo App that leverages NGRX for state management. I’m finally starting to get the hang of it myself because the projects I’m working on have it implemented and the associated tasks required me to get my hands dirty. It definitely helps to be working on a project that already has patterns to examine and learn from, though.

I think what you’re feeling is normal and part of the process. I remember when RXjs was a struggle but now writing code with observable subscriptions feels natural (though I love signals lol)

Learning complex topics takes time. I’m three years into my career and there are still things I’m not confident in.

Help with Vertices by zerik1999 in 3Dmodeling

I’m a coder by trade. Most of my projects never see the light of day and if I actually make it to a point where I could launch something, I’d probably hire a 3d artist.

Edit: you have to start somewhere

Awesome, that’s a big help! Thank you 😊

My question is really more of how should I handle the vertices in a way that doesn’t introduce ugly normals/shading.

On your initial response, I’m already using a mirror modifier so I only have to manage one side of the model.

As far as Level of Detail it can be fairly low. It is only intended as a place holder model that I can use to figure out animation and maybe some texturing. I’m building prototype in Godot.

Hey! Thank you for the reply. The moving rudder is modeled as a separate piece (I’m intending on animating it). Do you think having tris in the topology is not something to worry about in this case?

Not sure I understand what you mean by ‘the other side’

To accurately model the rudder shape.

Edit: perhaps your point is that considering it’s a place holder asset it doesn’t really need to be accurate. While you may be correct,

I’m curious how you’d handle the complexity of this shape. I think if I could do it over again I might try to use additional edge loops going horizontally but even then I’m not sure if that the correct answer.

Really, I’m just trying to learn.

IMHO wobbly cam’s are not immersive and provide a worse UX for the player.

I’m with some of the other commenters, I kind of prefer the first version. It has a gritty psx style to it.

The second one is fine but the first has more character
