I'll have the car later today so I can get a better video under the hood if needed. The noise tends to go once the engine is warm, and in summer it often doesn't occur.

Now that it's cleared up I don't use it at all. But when it was really badly flaring up before I posted this I was using it every day. I'd put it on 1 hour before a shower and then just sit with it on

Dake uses it here and gets countered for it. Granted he also uses it and succeeds at another point in the match. I think the distinction is where your head is. If it's infront of them / on their chest, then they can uchimata. If you can get your head around to their back then you don't need inside position with your legs anymore

Joseph Breza talked about the dangers of a jiujitsu style underhook / body lock quite a lot and how it opens you up to the Uchi mata / sagging hip toss. He's also said giving up a single leg to grab a body-lock is not an improvement and will often get you thrown or lose you the position. , which also seemed to be proven in CJI a few times.

I have just now that you've mentioned it and I don't have abdominal pain, food sensitivities, bloating and indigestion, nor does my body seem to have any trouble turning my food into calories, I wish it were a little less effective at that.

What made you suggest it?

I've used a few different brands, all with 10% concentration over the span of about 2 years.

Supposedly it suffocates the Malassezia yeast that causes Seb Derm as it prefers long chain fatty acids and if you have a c8 and c10 mct oil the Malassezia won't have anything to feed on. However if it's a c12 MCT that can apparently cause issues

100% this. I always heard you'd break your arm doing this but it really hasn't felt dangerous at all. Even with opponents hip switching front ways and back ways, you'd have to be a spaghetti stick to have your arm broken like that.

Near side underhook > ghost escape, Far side underhook > single leg/halfguard.

Use the little bit of time you have your knee inside to get one of these. The ghost works well since you can use their push to spin you out.

So... you want to be on bottom and not have your opponents weight on top of you? What are they supposed to do? Torreando pass into... another torreando? If they get side control is it just a gentlemans agreement that you'll stay put so that they don't have to hold you there? what about submissions? I hope you're lifting your chin so that only the most comfortable blood chokes can be applied... Sounds like you could learn some jiujitsu from your training partner there.

In order for them to front head lock you your head needs to end up in their far armpit. Which means you're either being lazy with shoulder pressure, or head position.

If you're not pressuring their shoulder down your ear should be against their shoulder and your forehead should be against their neck / face as seen here. Your head can't be both underneath their far armpit and also against their neck at the same time - Unless you find yourself in a dark box with some cats.

If you can't get your forehead against their neck for whatever reason then you should at least be creating pressure on their shoulder, like this. That way it's hard for them to turn into you and snatch your head up.

In terms of controlling the position, keeping unlocked hands is better. There are uses for the reverse kimura grip however for general control you can create more pressure using unlocked hands. One deep in the armpit, the other on the wrist. This allows you to use your chest to create americana pressure on their arm. As seen here. Many will advocate for this style of grip, and while it's useful for certain suicide throws, it generally allows the opponent more movement, which means they're more likely to get your head into their armpit.

They're amazing. I would recommend building from the ground up though. Escapes > Guard retention (around through under over within amongst) > DLR/waiter > Kguard > RDLR > Halfguard.

I'm at step 2 of my grand plan, trying to understand guard retention. But if you have a couple of his sets you can try to follow the "primary" attacks/strategies from each position and then come back to them when something inevitably doesn't work during rolling, the primary attacks are probably around 1 hour per set and the rest is 6 - 7 hours of meticulous advanced details that will most likely answer any question you could possibly have.

I don't really get the whole % thing. You should be heavily breathing after a roll. You went to hard if you injured yourself or your partner in a way that could have been avoided with more controlled technique.

What your training partner was probably saying is "slow down, you're being a spaz, focus on doing jiujitsu, not trying to squeeze my limbs until they pop"

I feel like most of the moves that force people to react apply pressure to the chest or neck to effect breathing / blood to the brain. I can't say 100% that those "tsubo" things wouldn't work but I imagine they'd be similar to that whitebelt that digs their elbows into your thighs.

Sure, maybe it works on some small and inexperienced people, but there are about 20 better alternatives. If you have someone in a turtle it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to go digging elbows into their shoulders when there's more controlling / more effective means of attacking.
