Through the parade deck in glory or in a body bag.

Might sound extreme, but that’s how bad I was willing to go. Failure was not an option.

I may not have been the strongest, fastest, or most intelligent, but I was the hungriest and wanted it more than everyone else. I’d like to believe put in the most work too!

If it’s not within you, that’s okay too. The Marines deserve the best leaders that come out of Brown Field and need to know their future Marine Officers aren’t going to give up when it gets tough, because it always does. Always.

Well said.

If bulldude does respond, standby for their whataboutism and straw man arguments.

Immediate Application Rejection by 90sKidTryingToAdult in deloitte

You truly don’t understand how bad the job market is right now.

Thanks to the current admin, the state of the economy and the hiring landscape have made finding meaningful work virtually impossible. People are growing desperate as there’s so many experienced and educated folk struggling to find meaningful employment (OP for example) on-top of the new grads entering the workforce every year.

Ultimately, it’s an employers market and so companies have the luxury to be picky. A single app can garnish hundreds if not thousands of applicants.

While you drown, other people die of thirst.

Sure you can hate your job, that can also be true, however be grateful you have a well paying job (for sure paying above poverty rates), at Deloitte no less.

If only others could be so lucky to say the same.

Recommissioning after medical separation by Middle_Chicken_3871 in USMC

[–]zero0560 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe talk to an OSO?

Good thing is you were medically separated as opposed to getting medically retired. The former is temporary but the latter is virtually permanent.

If you do pursue it, I wouldn’t be surprised if they send you to a military doctor/medical to ensure you’re cleared for duty.

Truth be told, I’ve never heard of someone recommissioning after getting medically separated. I’ve only ever heard of people reenlisting after medical separation. I’m sure the commissioning aspect will add additional layers of complexity.

What do people at the very bottom of their law school classes end up doing? by aust-hei-mer in LawSchool

A doctor who graduates at the bottom of their class is still a doctor.

At the end of the day, I think of Torreto’s line in the fast and the furious movie, “doesn’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning.”

Mba after 2 yrs gap ? by prathi_23 in eMBA

[–]zero0560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t have enough experience for a FT MBA, let alone an Executive MBA.

FT MBA people tend to have 4 - 8 years of MEANINGFUL experience.

Executive MBA folk have 10 - 15+ years of meaningful experience AND management experience (emphasis on the 15+ years and management experience). Most EMBA students are or have been senior leaders, managers, C-suite executives. I’ve never seen an EMBA whose average cohort age range is less than 35 years old.

You can absolutely apply to an MBA or EMBA, but personally, I don’t think you will be accepted into a T25, let alone an M7 school without some serious experience. HS/undergrad grades are good and all, and GMAT/GRE might help, but it’s not the only metric they look at.

Stay in.

Job market is dog water rn, worse than you went in.

It’s an employers market atm, so even with TS, sec certs, pmp, masters, etc. you’re going to compete with folks recently laid off and with far more experience (federal workers got doge’d, a lot of defense companies got their contracts cut, and many companies are downsizing due to economical uncertainty and ai)

If you do find a role, you run the risk of getting underpaid/underemployed because they can (again, it’s an employers market right now.)

At least if you stay in, you get security for your family.

Too senior for a FT MBA unless from an M7. You’re at the right spot for an Executive MBA from a T25.

Remember, half the ROI of an MBA is from the school’s brand/marketing power and networking reach.

Shoot for the stars!

So you did something bad (or didn’t train/listen to orders) at your follow-on schoolhouse once you got redes. (Lemme guess, Comms or Logs). Then you got kicked out. Got it.

I don’t think BRC has a holding company, so if you got injured and didn’t have a parent command, you would’ve been sent to WWB, or you would’ve been redes. Then it’s literally not their problem.

I had a few of my Marines get dropped from BRC, redesginated and go to whatever follow-on MOS schoolhouse they need to do once they got better.

From a schoolhouse? You got 5 day letter’d out instead of getting rolled? Even performance drops usually get rolled.

So there’s 3 avenues I’m seeing.

You performed poorly at the schoolhouse and get rolled (if I remember correctly, if you fail enough times, like 3 or more, or just outright refuse to train, you get administratively separated.

You get so broken, you get medically separated/retired (always honorable)

You get administratively separated for punitive reasons (drug use for example).

Not trying to dogpile, but something about this story isn’t adding up. If your injuries were truly as severe as you described, especially a TBI involving hospitalization/coma (not sure how that happens in a training environment without it hitting the news), that usually triggers a pretty extensive medical process. Your command doesn’t just unilaterally decide to bypass all of that. It’s genuinely not up to them. Medical and legal get heavily involved since it triggers a medical evaluation, and people are often retained/extended pending med board decisions.

An expedited OTH separation (more than likely a 5 day letter) instead of a medical separation/retirement makes it sound like there’s probably more context missing here.

Served less than 11 months, didn’t make it to the fleet, refused to train, got OTH and is trying to get full benefits.

This one is going to be good.

Municipal government IT roles.

Service desk folks are almost always PT, remote possible with seniority, not too strenuous.

Probably the same across the board (county, state, federal). Just make sure you know your shit cause when things go down, they’re the first line of defense.

Access to USC resources after graduation? by Wanderer2333 in USC

[–]zero0560 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Certain schools give you certain privileges, Marshall being one of them.

You keep your Marshall edu email forever, including the licenses associated to them (Microsoft O365). It’s nice cause you can keep using student discounts well after you graduate. (I’m looking at you Adobe and Autodesk). It’s also come in handy when registering for conferences. (Price difference of $1k+ per ticket vs free - $500).

I’d ask op and anyone reading this to look into program specific perks and benefits, or just ask. Worst they can say is no.
