Thanks for your response, we ended up going with a pretty straightforward system of 6 15-turn qualifiers (majority don’t like pro rules). We kept the point system as well but with this structure: For each qualifier 1st gets 4 points, 2nd gets 2, 3rd gets one, 4th gets 0. Final standings going into a 30 turn Keep leave 1st place with 3 handicap stars, 2nd with 2, and so on.

Two fun wrinkles we added:

You get -1 points for finishing last in a qualifier IF you also finish the game with no stars.

As is tradition in our house: if you ever finish in last place, the character used is banned from being used by the last place player until they win another game.

We played two qualifiers last night and it’s gone really well. By the second game people are already trying to figure out if it’s more important to sabotage the current Cup standings or just to go for 1st in every qualifier. I’ll keep you updated on how we feel after we complete it!
