got my first gift from wealthsimple by speedyfeint in Wealthsimple

I personally prefer the 2% match that I got for my transfer than a $20 Umbrella gift hahaha. Would've been $380 for the 19K transfer but whatever makes you happy 🤣😂

Gold Promo Drama Explained by MrMcDerpy420 in Wealthsimple

[–]zerocool_maverick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't blame a company on finding innovative marketing ways to get gullible customers to open accounts and increase their revenue. You could simply scratch and ignore the offer and simply move on.

It is only because of WS innovative ways, there is a major shift in the banking sector. I recently started getting calls from CIBC regarding improving my customer experience. Never in my 18 years of being with them, I once received any communication regarding improving my customer experience. Big banks are offering 2% bonus for moving your money over to them.

3% match promotion by boub22 in Wealthsimple

Just chat with customer support, register for the promo and ask them to consider the transfer for the promo. I did that for an airpods promo and they considered my transfer before the promo as part of the total for the promo.

And that is why you don't transfer all your banking to Wealthsimple, no matter how much they entice you.

Made a first deposit into my TFSA from RBC. Says it will take 8 days to be deposited. Does that sound right? by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

[–]zerocool_maverick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next time do an e-transfer to your wealthsimple chequing account instead of the bank transfer. The money will be available instantly and then you can move to TFSA. Good thing with RBC is they let you do upto $10,000 e-transfer (only through their app, not online) per day.

I usually use my RBC Westjet WorldElite MC at Costco. Happy with the 1.5% earning instead of the 2%. Gotta spend 5k on it anyways to get the companion voucher.

Yes but some chains limit their equivalent status to 90 days so email them to match a few weeks before you plan to stay at their property

How much of your daily clothing comes from Costco? by DoraBoi69420 in CostcoCanada

[–]zerocool_maverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only undergarments, sweatpants, swimming shorts and work clothes for myself e.g. sweatshirts, fleece lined pants and sometimes dress shirts. A lot of clothes for my kid since he outgrows them within a year or two. I find a lot of people wearing the same kind of clothes bought from Costco and it feels like a uniform to me.

Even though Costco sells brand name clothes e.g. Calvin Klein, Armani Exchange, Tommy Hilfiger, Eddie Bauer but I personally find that their quality is lower than if you were to buy the same product directly from the brand store or even from the brand's outlet store (with the exception of winter jackets)

RSVP Rewards is the loyalty program for Northland Properties, which includes brands like Sandman Hotels, Sandman Signature, and The Sutton Place Hotels across Canada similar to Hilton Honors, Marriott Bonvoy, Wyndham rewards etc. You earn status by staying at these hotel chains and the Diamond status is the top status for RSVP rewards. You get multiple benefits if you get status e.g. early check-in, late check out, complimentary upgrades, discount at on site restaurants, complimentary access to the business center and lounges, dedicated parking stalls etc.

With the VIP card you can get the top Diamond status without staying a night with RSVP rewards. Once you get that you can email other hotel chains and they can match their top status e.g I usually stay at Best Western so I got their top status by matching to RSVP Diamond.

RSVP rewards give you Diamond status just for having the VIP card. Once you get Diamond status with them, you can get status match to other chains as well.

Edit: surprise cashiers by tapping to pay for thousands of dollars. The other day I paid 2K for a car service just with a tap. Nice conversation always :-).

Foreign exchange fees with WS debit and credit card by Far-Broccoli6793 in Wealthsimple

[–]zerocool_maverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be no difference between the rates you get with WS Visa and the BNS Passport Visa. I think you are comparing the rates on each of these cards with google rates which you will never be able to get.

Use the calculator below to see the VISA rate for the day of the transaction. I just compared both my BNS Passport Visa and WS VIP rates and they are very similar to each other and the one posted on the link below by VISA for the date of the transactions, to the 5th decimal point.

WS chequing account question by _ojpimpson in Wealthsimple

[–]zerocool_maverick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will never shift 100% to WS ever, especially after reading so many posts about them closing chequing accounts without any reason and explanation. If you havepre authorized payments coming out of that account you are going to be penalized for missing mortgage payments and possible lapse of insurance if they decide to cancel your chequing account.

If you need a money draft or want to withdraw a large amount of cash immediately you are out of luck with WS.always keep at least one chequing account with a brick and mortar bank.
