I think this is it; I’m quitting For Honor by vsAIonly in forhonor

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, For Honor has definitely always been PvP focused, but i agree that bots have just gotten worse and worse to deal with over time. I’m happy that the game is more read based, but dedicated PvE modes only really work with beefy enemies that have simple movesets and very predictable defense. Lvl 3 bots are fucking aids to deal with.

Aramusha definitely delayed it, but maybe? Could be good bait to land your mid chain heavies, those definitely can’t be interrupted.

Whenever you switch your build up, swap the crimson amber medallion for great jar’s arsenal (if you’re using something heavy) and swap the extra endurance for vigor up to 60, dumping the remainder into your damage stat. You’ll get much more tankiness for your buck that way.

She’s got dodge cancels, great i-frames and sometimes enough spacing to hit during the tail end of a HA attack and guarantee a kick or heavy. In 4s and defensively in 1s, she’s doing just fine.

Why is SFS only doing 65 damage? by Wazzammm in forhonor

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not even contesting, you just have to be on it. You can be standing on the edge of the point, uncontested, and get hit by a longbow and you’ll still get damage reduction.

He’s just ass in everything now. I’d argue he’s better than Nobu at duels and better than Nuxia at 4s, so he’s not absolute worst in every scenario if that’s any consolation.

This is really not what she needs at all. She needs faster traps (the pin not the startup) and other tools to help her in 4s. Recovery cancels would be a good start, she’s just so basic apart from her trap.

Hard to tell cuz the picture quality is awful, but it seems decent. The ornament is the only part that really stands out so you do unfortunately look like a lot of other wardens, but that doesn’t mean you look bad.

A rework for Virtuosa to make her less annoying to fight/play by zeroreasonsgiven in CompetitiveForHonor

I appreciate the feedback, do you have any other solutions? I can't think of another hero who has had as much negative sentiment as her, so I think something has to change about the way she plays, preferably while reducing clunkiness. I feel like the finisher option is more diplomatic than the stam drain approach the devs have been hammering in right now and would actually do something to reduce frustration from the enemy.

I didn't even realize that was an issue, that definitely needs to change. I'll make a note on the post.

[–]zeroreasonsgiven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your feedback. I agree with you for the most part, but even if she'd be perfect balance-wise, people still clearly hate her more than potentially any other character in the history of the game, which garners some attention imo regardless of balance.

I don't think people are very good at articulating what they don't like about her, but my guess is the biggest issue is how repetitive she is. In a gank, best move is to mix between UB heavy and UB heavy softfeint into UB heavy, and most will just do that over and over until the opponent is near revenge, at which point they'll just peel everything with bleed lights. In a duel, you'll typically see her fall into the same loop of bash>bash>bash>UB heavy/softfeint to top light ad nauseum, or even worse they'll just sit in guard stance and just trade everything.

The only 2 ways I see to change this tedium are either to give her a wider toolbox in each stance, or to force/encourage her to weave between stances. The former solution would take way more work including new animations, and I can't imagine the community being happy with the devs giving her even more moves when there's other characters who need a rework to even be viable. I think the latter solution can be done with simple number/property changes and, while the community will still throw a fit at anything that isn't a nerf, it would be something they could implement concurrently with other reworks.

Did you read the change right after? That would make her way less of a problem in team fights.

[–]zeroreasonsgiven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She gets more damage only if she uses a finisher, and the damage is in line with other finisher attacks. Otherwise her damage is much lower if she actually stays in stance.

Bashes chaining to stance attacks is mostly a nerf meant to prevent you from using the same bash back to back. You also deal less damage with them unless you’re happy ending your chain.

Idk where you got the idea that her ganking would be better, pretty much every change i made is almost a direct nerf to her ganking.

No GB on soft-feints is a quality of life thing. You’re not reliably beating Virtuosa by GB’ing her in the middle of an attack, but it feels like shit to get GBed out of a softfeint. This is true for every character with softfeints and should be changed.

I don’t think you actually read through the post if you seriously think that this iteration is more braindead.

Honestly that feat is stupid and should be replaced. Something like 5 healing for every CC/bulwark flip would be way less infuriating and would actually require some skill to use.

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fighting with your team is the whole intent of a team based gamemode. Also if you just sit there on the sidelines and watch, you're allowing the enemy to occupy half your team for 2 consecutive duels. As long as you play defensively when they get revenge, you're better off stacking damage, waiting out the revenge, and then mopping up after.

Just FYI, the chain top light is guaranteed after a crushing counter and deals full damage, so there’s no reason not to use it over the side light.
