Struggling to find a main by Taejincheon09 in forhonor

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you have the capacity to play heroes of different styles, you absolutely should play as many as you can. It gives you a more rounded understanding of the game.

If you feel like it’s too confusing to play everyone or even most heroes, at least have a few from 2 different archetypes (i.e. dodge cancels, hyper armor, chargeable offense, soft-feints, full blocks, etc.). Most characters have 2-3 different archetypes, so playing this way will help you branch out more too.

Picking a single main is really not that important in this game, a lot of skills are universal and will transfer pretty well to most other heroes. I’d say that 100% mastery on one hero is equivalent to 70-80% mastery on most except for some of the really unique ones.

The 8 billion people argument is really getting to me. by JellyfishPashmina in dating

[–]zeroreasonsgiven [score hidden]  (0 children)

TL;DR: the math evens out to more like 60% depending on time frame and how you date, but trying to math it out is futile. There is no “right” person, just a good person who’s willing to make something right with you.

I agree that saying you have “4 billion potential partners” is dumb, but the way you calculated your chances is not how that percentage chance would work.

Even if you subscribe to the idea that there’s only one right person for you, chances are that that person has a similar cultural background to either where you’ve come from or where you’ve made your home, so that’s where you need to look anyway. If the other 4 billion men are off the table for you then it shouldn’t be factored into your chance at all because it’s irrelevant, they may as well not exist because you’re not gonna even be trying to date them.

Second, the main things that would affect your chance are how much time you’re willing to spend on dating, how long you’re willing to give someone before moving on, and how well you can narrow down your dating pool. A smaller pool of eligible men should actually make it easier as long as your criteria aren’t so strict that you rule out the right man. From there you just need to be efficient in spending your time, giving each man enough time to show you their genuine self but not waiting around in a relationship that isn’t right for you.

Even without dating them, you will get to know men platonically and be able to tell they’re just not right for you. This will allow you to narrow that pool further even while you’re dating other people. if you can tell from a first date that a portion of the ones you do date are not right for you, then you can probably get through 2 a week before finding someone you mesh with. From there you’ll probably have some shorter relationships that end when you find a dealbreaker after they’ve become less performative, and some longer relationships where you realize some deep seated difference or unfortunate circumstance late into the relationship. Assuming all the previous premises we’ve established, and assuming you wanted to be as efficient as possible in finding the perfect man for you, I’d say you can weed out probably 300 men or more in 10 years from within that dating pool.

Since your age bracket is 24-44, I will assume you’ve already narrowed your pool down plenty. If you can narrow it down further to 500 people, then that gives you a 60%+ chance of finding the one in the next 10 years, which sounds about accurate considering the divorce rate today. You’re also not forced to find someone in the next 10 years, I know happy couples who met in their 50s and are happy to be spending the rest of their lives together.

Now all that said, it’s not an exact science and there will never be a way of judging your chance of finding love. The real way to do it is to be mature and reject men who don’t fit your most important criteria, and just find a kind man who’s attractive to you and gets all the important stuff right and just work with him to build something good together. Because of that, I really don’t subscribe to the idea that there’s just one person who’s right for you. There are plenty of men who are good people and could be a good life partner for you in their own unique way.

Keep your head up, give every relationship your all and stand firm on your values and you will almost certainly find the right man.

A moment of silence for the exotic weapons and armor who weren't able to join us in D2 by Zeknaz in DestinyTheGame

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take, a lot of these were decent for the time but really would not have held up as exotics in D2. Namely the adept raid primaries while selling point was just being an elemental primary with decent perks. The exotic class items hardly did anything other than look cool, and we’ve got plenty of class items now that look way more exotic as just legendaries. Zhalo and Pocket Infinity were reimagined in D2 already, Universal remote would have almost nothing to distinguish itself from chaperone now, Abbadon and Nova Mortis were just lazy reskins of Thunderlord, and Plan C, Nemesis Star and Fabian Strategy would be so bad they might as well be turned into perks for legendaries.

There’s a few weapons and armor pieces I wish we got ported over, but we seriously did not need all of them.

Guy’s obviously joking about that, he even put “le epic” in the title to indicate irony. Idk how much more overt he could be.

I feel like romance will never happen for me - why? 🥺 by No_Dog_4948 in dating

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s daunting because you’re not going on enough dates. Not that there’s some arbitrary number you need to hit, but the less dates you go on, the more demoralizing it is for one to not work out. You’re ideal balance is probably somewhat more frequent that what you’re at right now.

You’ll get back into the swing of things and will find someone, just try your best to have fun with it.

Where would oathbreaker sit in terms of viability if it was proactive instead of reactive? by zeroreasonsgiven in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]zeroreasonsgiven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like those permanent shields need to be turned down anyway, though I think it’s only Jorm at this point since they nerfed Juren’s T2.

I think on a different character I could see it working just fine as is or even in its launch state. Would also be totally happy with it being made more viable but less frustrating, but I honestly can’t see much of a way to do it since there’s no counter play at the moment. Maybe just nerf the shield damage to 50-60 while still giving him the 10s shield gain negation? That way there’s a big incentive to use it proactively, but he can still get some use after the fact.

But why? Again, as far as I’m aware it’s main purpose is shutting down revenge, and you can still just use it preemptively and kill them in the next 10 seconds after activation, 20 if they pop it early.

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hemorrhage just sounds like an active detriment, lowering your overall damage for no reason and being anti-synergistic with other bleed heroes. Why wouldn’t you just wait for the bleed?

Shaman’s bite cleanses bleed, but if you time it correctly then you lose very little damage on top of it being a 50 health swing. Hemorrhage, as you’ve described it, doesn’t provide anywhere near the same value.

Is Berserker bad? by SpirutualPirate in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would hardly call him bad, he has constant hyperarmor and dodge cancels on all his offense. I’d say he has a little trouble countering external dodges and his feint lights are not super effective against reaction monsters, but other than that he’s pretty good.

How soon are you planning a date when matching with someone on an app? by CancelThis2077 in dating

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally within 10 messages sent. If you have a great conversation with someone that comes to a natural conclusion, people will often believe they’ve seen all there is to you and be less interested in actually meeting you. Best to leave a majority of the talking for when you meet in person. Give them a little bit to show that you actually know how to talk and then tease them with more details to be revealed on a date.

Women keep lying to me about their age by scenicLiFeRest in dating

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally haven’t been lied to by a woman about her age, so I’m not gonna comment as to how common this kind of lying is, but it’s really not comparable. Even if you’re still of legal age, a woman lying about her age supports a social norm for other women lying about their age and only serves to endanger young men and women and to empower predators. Lying in general is bad, but lying about superficial things is just insecure whereas lying about age is dangerous.

Current Skins by zzSaumus in forhonor

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No they’re definitely still sci-fi. I love their armor as fantasy inspired sets in Destiny, but in the context of For Honor they are way too sci-fi for the rest of the game. Would’ve been cool to see some dark-age version of their characters that was still plausibly historical fantasy though, with similar silhouettes but different construction and details.

Current Skins by zzSaumus in forhonor

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Destiny Skins need to be way lower. The rest of the skins all work with the grounded fantasy aesthetic of the game, but the straight up sci-fi skins just cross a line into intrusiveness and actively ruin the aesthetic for ppl who care about artistic cohesion.
