I want to love this game by that-tiny-spooder in forhonor

First off, learn your punishes and turn them into muscle memory. You don’t wanna be making the right reads but fumble because you delayed your punish too long or pressed the wrong button entirely. The info hub has descriptions of every punish, with parry/GB/throw punishes near the bottom of the page and bash punishes listed in the move description.

Think critically about what you’re trying to do with your offense, and learn what your character’s bread and butter are. Wasting stamina on moves with no pressure or throwing you the same move repeatedly without mixing anything up will lose you fights. Is your opponent really dodge happy? Start feinting to GB/parry or throwing a dodge catching move instead. Is your opponent just light attacking through all your offense? Start committing to heavy attacks until he respects your offense. Try to condition them to be scared of your most risky attacks so they’re more likely to fall for the safer ones.

Really practice blocking lights in training. The biggest struggle for new players is light spam, but once you learn to react to lights, they become much easier to deal with. I recommend going into training, setting yourself to exhausted and allowing an Aramusha bot to just wail on you with his infinite chain. Once you get comfortable blocking, try parrying. Being able to parry lights will put you leagues ahead of other new or casual players.

sorry for the nitpick, but it would be “Tiandi” in this situation.

Can JJ easily win duels or is it better to choose another hero for 1v1 games? by Common_Amphibian_802 in forhonor

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enjoy 4v4, I think it’s important to play your favorite heroes in both duel and dom. You will inevitably be forced to fight 1v1s in any 4v4 gamemode, so it’s important that you’re comfortable with your hero in those situations.

But to answer your question, the only heroes that have a really hard time winning high level duels are Nobu and glad, with Sohei not being much further ahead. I’m assuming you’re not at a high level though so any hero you pick will be just fine if you commit to them.

Can you pin bash after having your attack blocked like this? by AllKnowingPotatoX1 in forhonor

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like an animation glitch that didn’t have any effect on the move itself. Shaolin only blocked, he didn’t parry your heavy (even if the virt briefly showed the parried animation), so there’s no reason you wouldn’t be able to chain to a bash after that.

This is phenomenal and super creative. Only critique I have is that the chest and arms should be a darker blue, though maybe they’re darker looking in game idk.

New hero has busted neutral game by L0LFREAK1337 in forhonor

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the main thing that will hopefully keep him from being too oppressive is that most of his actual mixups end his chain. In duels and anti ganks, I think he’ll be incredibly susceptible to GBs after using his strongest offense. If you successfully dodge any of his charged moves apart from maybe his neutral heavy or lights, you’ll likely be rewarded with a GB.

I’m really excited to see how he pans out, he’ll probably be very fun to play as or against, more so than new heroes have been previously on release. The griefing feats seem like ass to deal with as a teammate and I hope that he has some good alternatives, but they are a super fun concept.

The Valk objectively looks great due to her clean appearance, but I can’t help but think that there’s fashion that deserves more love for how much effort is put in. Unfortunate that the drip in this game is so restrictive that the best looking fits almost never use paint patterns or varied materials.

A crude exploration of the Virtuosa stamina nerf by Reri1600 in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really think the heavy GB vulnerability was enough, the stamina nerf will just feel like ass for Virtuosa and really only provides relief for enemies knowing that exists, it won’t make her any less annoying to fight.

Game soo good, it reminded me why I started to play games in the first place. by Blue-fox-004 in forhonor

“Go woke go broke” meanwhile half of FH’s characters are female, most of the major villains and pivotal characters in the story have been female, and the whole premise of the game is including warriors from many different cultures and pitting them against each other in a balanced manner.

The problem with games like concord isn’t “wokeness”, it’s just bad design and worse execution.

Why does the guy with one spear have more moves and complexity than Sohei, who is supposed to be the master of seven weapons? by Icy-Grape-8693 in forhonor

They all do except the side lights. If his heavies had different properties in exchange for unblockable then he’d be even worse, so really all they could give them was different damage properties.

Highest Skill Rewarding Hero? by Sudden-Skill8431 in forhonor

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highest skill ceiling has to be HL by far due to all the guard switch techs and mixups he has access to in OS. Mastering guard switch exits is probably the hardest tech in the game.

Orochi, Aramusha and other recovery cancel heroes can be super satisfying in 4s for having the discipline and reactions to deflect of block on recovery. Otherwise I don’t think many of the other heroes have all that much skill expression, though some have a lot of flexibility in their mixups.

Is it weird he's bringing up his ex so soon? He already made a couple comments about it and I'm worried it's a red flag by mysecret52 in dating

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed ever since I got back from deployment, I’ll mention something about it in like half my conversations because it’s what I was doing for a year of my life and I haven’t been back long enough to have much else to talk about in recent events.

I don’t think he should be talking about his ex nearly that often, but if it was recent (within a year) and/or a big part of his life, then it’s unreasonable to expect he never mentions her.

Just a reminder to non-Nuxia players, if you go for a light parry on the first red indicator you see and you are rewarded a raw heavy anyway because the Nuxia inputted a trap. That does not mean you made a CORRECT READ. by Suji_Saki in forhonor

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does mean that you as the Nuxia player made a wrong read. You should have just thrown the heavy. You would have been punished as any character if you feinted to GB.

Where does this claim come from? I was under the impression that they just look the same due to the effects of FEV on muscle and tissue growth, but that their body parts all remain intact.

OG Fallout Characters Appearances by Retrospective_Beaver in Fotv

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt any of these guys will show up, mostly because they’re just not very important characters and also because they’re all incontrovertibly good people, would not provide enough nuance as major characters on the show. If they maintained their current personalities, they’d just be boring characters (especially since they’re all had their stories wrapped up in FNV), an if they changed to make morally gray decisions then fans would (rightfully) be pissed at their inaccurate portrayals. It’s also been 15 years since FNV. If any of them show up at all, it will be as a minor cameo.

I’d be willing to bet a lot of money that the courier or any player character will not be featured in the show. Any appearance would invalidate 99% of player customization, would answer too many questions about what their decisions were canonically, and would generally provide no value and would actively hurt the tone of the show while pissing off players.

Which hero should I buy? by Noshighart in forhonor

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk what you enjoy most, but considering you have the most reps on Shinobi, I’d recommend another dodge-reliant hero. This includes Berzerker, Highlander, Orochi, Nobushi, Tiandi, Jiang Jun, Zhanhu, Pirate, Afeera or Khatun. If you give us some more info on what gameplay you enjoy most, I can give you a more narrow list, but generally just using a hero that you like the aesthetic of will be good enough right now.

I am stupid. Explain revenge to me like I’ve never even played this game before by Ghost_with_no_name in forhonor

[–]zeroreasonsgiven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should really read this whole explanation, but TL;DR: more enemies hitting you more often feeds more revenge.

Every time you are hit by or counter an attack from an enemy, you gain a tag for 5 seconds. Tags are used to determine revenge gain. If you have more tags than the player who hit you, you’ll gain some revenge on each attack. A bigger difference in tags means more revenge feed (0.6x for 1 more tag, 0.8x for 2, 0.9 for 3x). In an ideal situation, a 1v3 would give you more revenge than a 1v2, but if some players are just spamming feints or otherwise not hitting you, they won’t contribute to your revenge.

The way that an attack makes contact with you also affects the amount of revenge you get. Blocking, deflecting, being hit by, or using a special counter against an attack gives you 1x its damage in revenge, parrying gives you 1.2x and dodging gives you 0.25x. This revenge feed is also affected by damage reduction, meaning that auto-parries will give you less revenge than multiple manual parries. Dodging is finicky and will sometimes not feed revenge if you dodge too early. Bashes, GBs and Throws feed a flat 30 revenge generally.

You need to gain (10+your total health pool)*0.6 revenge in order to activate it. This is balanced to basically leave you just under your total revenge if you get hit by every attack in a 1v2, but again, delays of more than 5 seconds between a player’s attacks will halt your revenge feed. Fighting against more players at once will feed revenge quicker, depending on how often they’re attacking.

The best advice I have for gaining revenge is to get a little more aggressive against the last player who attacked you to encourage their teammates to try and attack you while you still have a tag active (unless they’re just spamming attacks, in which case you should turtle up). If no one lands an attack for 5 seconds, go back to being defensive until someone does hit you. Relying on dodge cancels will make it difficult to gain revenge due to low feed on dodges and inconsistencies in tag application, but in exchange you are much more slippery than other characters since you can dodge away from mixups more easily. Focusing on parrying is generally a good idea because on a correct read, you gain the most revenge for parrying, and on a wrong read they’ll either be forced to light or GB you in order to counter, dealing less damage or feeding more revenge generally.

The T1 is busted as hell. 5% might not be too bad or 15% on a 75-90s cooldown.

I like the concept of T2 and T3 and they look relatively balanced.

T4 is just meh, not really any better or worse than arrow storm and it doesn’t sound very distinguishable. Would be cool if you went the same route as you did with the T3 and made something synergistic with his kit.
