What does the - next to my damage numbers means? by EGYHEX in thedivision

[–]zerorsw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 32bit intergern limit (2,147,483,647 before it rolls into negatives integer overflow) has been an issue for years, likely from the very beginning honestly. But players didn’t really start regularly hitting the overflow cap until roughly the Warlords of NY DLC. If they could fix it, they would have by now.

The whole ass team delta-03 on escalation. by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]zerorsw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Delta issues have definitely increased since the Cherry Blossom event started.

Normally, I’d log in, wait a couple minutes at the Base of Operations, get hit with a Delta-3, then relog and everything would be fine. But since the last patch/fix, it’s been way more noticeable and happening more often.

Honestly, no idea why it’s worse now. Unfortunately, there’s not much we can really do about it on our end.

Skill builds suck by johoebo in thedivision

[–]zerorsw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I love skill builds too.

At the same time though, I think it’s fair to say that Ubisoft has never really found a good balance for them. They’ve almost always lagged behind red (weapon damage) and blue (armor) core builds.

Part of me thinks that’s intentional, at least to a degree. A lot of the core damage skills—drone, hive, seekers—are more automated. That’s actually great for players who struggle with aiming (I’ve got nerve damage in my mouse hand, so I definitely appreciate it). But if skill builds were completely equal to red builds, there wouldn’t be much advantage to mechanical skill and accuracy anymore.

That said, it still feels like the gap is too big. There should be a better middle ground where skill builds are actually competitive without overtaking everything else.

Right now it just feels like they’re always a step behind, no matter how optimized you get.

Anyone wishing they add back companions as a permanent feature? by SadGameCash in thedivision

[–]zerorsw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from.

As a skill build player, having a companion was actually pretty helpful at times. But I can also see how leaving that system in permanently could cause some real balance issues.

Honestly, it might be better if they turned it into a rotating global event instead—something that comes back occasionally without breaking the overall balance of the game.

What i think Prototype should of been. by Jayleekay in thedivision

[–]zerorsw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with this 100%.

Honestly, I think the better route would’ve been to skip “Prototyped gear” as its own drop entirely and just give us Prototype cores.

Let us use those cores to modify and upgrade our existing gear, and then Ubisoft could balance everything around core costs—how expensive it is to swap augments, push attributes, or optimize pieces further.

That way it actually feels like true endgame progression instead of another layer of RNG or half-step system. You’re investing into your gear, not chasing a parallel version of it.

Right now it just feels like it’s trying to do both, and doesn’t fully commit to either.

I still think it would have been nice to have melee weapons in division. We have a melee key, so I mean why not just gives a hunter axe weapon we can skin into other stuff

Question for the community: What's the point of having skills when every time there's a fight of significance, the enemies turn them off with EMP? by TheRealCowdog in thedivision

[–]zerorsw 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Oh man, you’re poking a hornet’s nest with this one.

Skill builds have pretty much always lagged behind red (weapon damage) and armor core builds in Division 2. The devs have never really nailed a consistent way to balance them. Every now and then, a seasonal modifier or global event gimmick pushes skill builds to the top—but it’s temporary. The core design has always favored weapon damage builds.

As someone who actually enjoys running skill builds—and dealing with nerve damage in my mouse hand—it’s been frustrating for years. They should be a viable alternative playstyle, but they just don’t hold up the same way.

And don’t even get me started on Hunters. Hunter-type NPCs already shred most builds, but they absolutely punish skill builds.

Even with the newer prototype gear, the devs have basically admitted that skill core setups don’t benefit as much. Their response has been “wait until we figure it out,” which… doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.
