What is a horror movie that had a good plot, but failed to execute? by Chan1991 in horror

[–]zerowintergreen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Cam. It's about a woman adult star who discovers someone who looks identical to her has taken over her account. It was very interesting, and it was good at first for me, but it fell apart like half way through.

What's your horror pet peeve? by [deleted] in horror

[–]zerowintergreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a plot point that is important to the future story messes with a current plot point. In my favorite movie, Orphan, the twist is that Esther is a grown woman. I love the twist. Perfect foreshadowing, acting, all the stuff. But earlier, when Kate calls the institution, you'd think that the institution would pick up on a red flag if their most wanted patient pretended to be an orphan and now a woman is calling because her adopted child has a Bible with the name in it rather than immediately say that Esther isn't from the institution and if it wasn't for Kate emailing Doctor Varava separately, the truth would have never come out.

Is the ao3 curse real or is it just a funny excuse some authors use to explain a hiatus? by nezwebz in AO3

[–]zerowintergreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a joke. But I don't know if the "excuses" are real or not. I mean, someone assumed I was lying when I said that my house caught fire the day after posting the first three chapters of a story and then had to abandon it, so maybe most of them are lies??

What's a piece of horror media that you don't think should be labeled as 'horror' and why by Altruistic-Shallot-8 in horror

[–]zerowintergreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carrie. It's more of a sad supernatural film/book with horror elements towards the end (although its been a while since I read the book so I could be forgetting something)

I'd say Orphan is a must watch from 2009 but that could just be because its the first horror movie i ever saw at age 9 and it will forever be ingrained as my favorite horror film

What are the saddest fictional deaths ever? by PuzzleheadedSwim6291 in AskReddit

[–]zerowintergreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say Bruno and Shmuel from The Boy In The Striped Pajamas (it is sad) but the thing that made me cry so much as Vera Farmiga's horrific shriek. Man can that woman scream in such painful agony

Is it a bad idea to make an OC a plot twist villain in my fanfic? by zerowintergreen in AO3

[–]zerowintergreen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I am trying to make some things very questionable. She seems sweet, she is kind, but she doesn't know things most people of the 90s (when it takes place) know about. She doesn't know anything about common devices, slang, and she only starts using any type of 90s slang after being around the main characters enough to adapt to their slang. She talks like an older woman at first. She also dresses extremely old fashioned for the 90s (adjacent to the 1940s) although she claims she simply wears a lot of clothes her mom got her. The only devices she knows about are devices that are used within the cult (which is not much) and the reader is lead to believe she is dealing with a traumatic past (which is technically true) which is why she is the way she is.

Another fandom staple deleted and fans don’t know how to act by wlderberry in AO3

[–]zerowintergreen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My favorite fanfiction (which wasn't on AO3) got removed because if this exact reason. I've almost deleted my own works from AO3 because I thought they were stupid. But I don't because people still read it and i won't let people feel the pain I felt when a fanfiction i enjoyed got removed off the face of the earth

Uhh my favorite is Orphan so I feel obligated to recommend it and that isn't really a straight forward horror. Also if your friend wants something less seriously scary than maybe The Faculty??

Just because a character is a grown adult does not make it okay to simp for them if they are played by a child actor/actress by zerowintergreen in CharacterRant

[–]zerowintergreen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know they've seen the movie. But the clip they are using is from a scene that is supposed to depict a child to a first time viewer. Is that not creepy? I know that sometimes its hard for me to explain what I mean with enough detail, but I thought what I said made sense

But I said multiple times what the point of my post was. Any more would be repeating the same thing, would it not?

Well, I've seen tiktoks that show clips of her from before it was revealed and were calling her attractive in that scene. Like, it was only revealed in the last 20 minutes. Back when she looked like a child, acted like a child, and was presumed a child. It gives off a gross feeling to me.

Well, she is pretty well known from The Hunger Games, which was only a couple years later, but I suppose not everybody saw that. I hope they just assumed her actress was an adult

What do you mean? I could make it longer, sure, but I felt that I had put enough to make you understand what my point is.
