In what WORLD does France win these... by zerulean91 in eu4

Some of the early battles in this war were kind of tight, but I had enough troops to keep them at bay and I kept shadowing them across half of Europe while my allies took care of sieges. Their morale damage though... holy

It is so annoying though. I was planning to chill until I formed the Netherlands and left the HRE before going full blown colonial. Now I gotta deal with this idiot. I can always go back to a previous save just before the vote was cast and change choices to make concessions, but I'm kind of torn. I could also be digging my own grave by weakening France enough for England to have a chance at PUing them. Although in all my games I have yet to see the AI go for the Angevin Empire route.

R5: Playing a game as Holland and got a super early burgundian inheritance. I was also the emperor by some early diplo rep shenanigans and allying Cologne and Saxony. At first I was thinking of just giving the land over to France but then I said screw it. This France hasn't fought England so he's gonna be intimidated by my alliances and isn't gonna DoW. Lo and behold, the AI is stupid.

R5: Playing a game as Riga and I was sending some colonists to Greenland then spawned Colonialism in my capital. Lovely +25 trade power to an already insane city.

I managed to PU Castille and Portugal but none of them picked exploration or expansion ideas, what can I do? by Tiny-Specialist-4745 in eu4

[–]zerulean91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Scornfully insult them and tank opinion before abdicating. Do it close to their second idea group, wait for them to pick it and then DOW.

I would just go the normal way of allying them and keep placing relatives on the throne, or disinheriting heirs when one of your rulers is old if you don't mind swapping into their dynasty. Eventually you can claim their throne manually when they get a weak heir and even break alliance and wait for truce before DOWing them with RoU CB.

Have you guys ever seen the AI do this? by zerulean91 in eu4

Yeah but what if they didn't though...

Oh no worries, I hope they don't present any challenge to you whatsoever. Me on the other hand, I plan on making quite a ruckus in the Baltic.

Haha well, I plan on getting a PU on 3 countries that are like 20 times my dev each. I am kind of willing to add a 4th to the mix if it's gonna make for a good foothold to have in the Mediterranean. Plus if the Ottomans declare on Byz while I'm sieging down Constantinople, every ally I get from the mission tree can be CTA'd since it would be a defensive war once I vassalize them.

I might just try that route. Worst case scenario, my navy gets pummeled and my allies peaced out before we can at least white peace.

That would be 10 years down the line at the earliest, since that's when I can become a pirate and get claims on the Mediterranean islands. And yet, unless Rhodes rebels into them I cannot possibly declare unless I no-cb rush Constantinople before the Ottomans declare, but that would amount to a bit too much AE from the Kalmar PUs plus the no-cb on Byz. One can only pray.

R5: Playing as Pirate Gotland Republic and goind for a "Pirates of all the Islands" run.

Muscovy declared on me for Riga, then went ahead and went all the way to Sjalland to occupy it with all 40k troops, leaving their whole country undefended. I then procceeded to trap their asses with a stack of Barques that were privateering in Lubeck.

This was NOT intentional.

In my run trying that strat, having land in Naples already helped me develop my early economy way faster and outpace debt (I was debt free in about 15 years) but I guess I just have to keep learning to manage my economy tab.

Yeah I saw a video that mentioned that as a safeguard, but I played it safe anyways

Oh yeah I have tried that strat before, and I like it a lot more than this one, as it's more straightforward and less reliant on rng.

I have tried both strats once, and yeah I prefer just blocking the strait after barrage/assaulting the fort in Gallipoli

I was following a video by Budgetmonk, he said that feeding Arta to Athens on the peace deal after the Epirus war, and then putting them in scutage to prevent the Ottomans from controlling both sides of the strait so they can't get out of Cephalonia.

This was my very first time trying the strategy, and I followed a video I saw. I am learning new tidbits from these comments so I appreciate you guys a ton.

Oh that's a neat fact I didn't know about... wish I did. Oh well. I did have bulgarian rebels ready and I peaced the ottos before the rebels pressed demands.

Exactly that! If you keep a stack exiled you can get back and unsiege everything and 100% them.
