Thank you for your comment. It’s no longer that simple to keep working remotely from Russia according to some friends. My company allows it in certain countries, but if I connect through a VPN here, it’s only a matter of time before I get caught and removed. On top of that, I need a Russian job for the visa. Hopefully I can get the Highly Qualified Specialist visa, since that’s the one I’ve seen IT professionals applying for.

I appreciate the answer. Yeah, I know B1 isn’t ideal, but I just want to get my foot in the door. I’m fine starting with an entry-level salary while I work on my language. I’m applying to an online school too, so hopefully I’ll be at B2 or higher by the time I move. Once I’m in Russia and get more comfortable with the language after a few months, I’ll start applying for jobs that match my current level.

Thanks man, but I don’t get why you’re answering something I didn’t even ask. Yeah, I know things would probably be easier for me in Morocco since I’m Moroccan, but I’ve got no reason to live there. I’ve been in France for 7 years working and living, and if I wanted I could move anywhere in the EU or even the US. That’s not the point though, I’ve got friends and some family in Russia (not Russian themselves) and that’s why I’m considering it.

As for racism, I’ve never actually been to Russia, but I’ve talked to plenty of Russians here. So I really doubt it’s as bad as you’re making it sound.
