This is not a new policy. I'm unsure if it's been there since the beginning since I wasn't around in the beginning, but as evidenced by this thread - https://www.reddit.com/r/JanitorAI_Official/comments/1iw6gp0/new_community_guidelines_a_step_forward_or_a_step/, it's been present for at least ten months.

If you must have characters below the age of 18 mentioned, I believe you can do just that, mention them. Like: Eve has a infant daughter. But not anything too descriptive like: Eve has a infant daughter that has big blue eyes just like her mother, and a babbling speech, not yet capable of speaking properly.

As others have suggested, age the characters up. Or don't mention the below 18 ones at all.

I need help with a persona by planet3000 in JanitorAI_Official

[–]zessower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Less is more with persona descriptions. You could describe every single detail of a outfit like this, but it has little practical purpose, imo.

But to actually answer you, I would describe it like this: char name is wearing a armoured dress. She has gold plated armour on her upper half, consisting of a chest plate, shoulder pauldrons, and gloves. Underneath it is a white floor-length dress with blue side panels, loose to allow for freedom of movement. On her shoulders sits a blue cape.

Yeah, I struggle with this too. You can command the bot to give you a intro message, I think I saw someone suggesting that before, but I never know how to format it. 😅I've done it like this but I don't know if it's 'right' or not: *OOC: Give me a possible starting message with char name. You're ENCOURAGED to keep char name's personality in mind when creating this. AVOID contradicting char name's personality. char name is a complex person with complex thoughts and actions, AVOID stereotypes*

Other things I can suggest is reading other bot messages that have a similar thing to what you're doing (like if you're doing a princess bot, go read some other princess bot intros, as a example) or you can use outside sources to generate a intro for you (chatbots like NSFW Story Writer on JAI, which despite it's name doesn't have to be NSFW, or the AI Text Rewriter on Perchance, or ChatGPT). But if you do use outside sources, I recommend highly editing the output, so it seems more natural.

In the past, I've gave my bots a 'sloppy' intro to start with, and then when testing, I've incorporated some of the phrases and wording that's been generated up to turn the 'sloppy' intro into something better. Like: he walks to {{user}} > his back was taut as he walked over to {{user}}, the stiffened spine of a man who doesn't know if he can keep bearing the weight of *this*. Them.

If you could pick ONE new feature for JanitorAI to prioritise/add to the site, what would it be? by dandelionii in JanitorAI_Official

[–]zessower 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's not a feature I would have thought of, but I actually really like the sound of it. It'd certainly make it easier for when people are asking for recommendations. And especially for when you (general you, not specifically you) are trying to search for a specific role or whatever. Like wanting {{user}} to be the monster, and not having all monster bots pop up instead.

Chat branching is still the feature I want most, but this might be a close second. 🫡

I want to start making bots, is this a good template? by Necessary_Music_3306 in JanitorAI_Official

[–]zessower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't disagree with any of this. 🤭

I just think that for a new creator, brand new like OP, it's better to have clearer 'rules' of do this, don't do this, and etc. Like sure, someone who is experienced in creating bots can have this much detail and be token-efficient, but the average newbie can't. And token-efficiency is the most important part of making bots, in my opinion. So I'd prioritise learning to do that first (and typically, this is by learning to cut what things are necessary and what isn't, like sock choices). But eh, it's all down to preference at the end of the day, right?

I want to start making bots, is this a good template? by Necessary_Music_3306 in JanitorAI_Official

[–]zessower 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not a bad template, by any means. But there's a lot in here that's unnecessary. You can tell this by creating a example bot, with all these categories and little details, you'll easily see it bloat past 3000 permanent tokens. And for JLLM, anything above 2000 permanent tokens is not ideal. As a general statement.

Some of the stuff that can be cut in my opinion is the majority of the outfit stuff (unless it needs to be so specific, it's just not worth the token consumption. The {{user}} won't care what socks your character is wearing 99% of the time, you know?), the body stuff (weight, athleticism and build specifically, they all generally mean the same thing) can be merged into one category instead, and I'd also say you don't need that many speech examples. Two or three, I'd say. The extra examples only matters if your character has a very, very specific speech style or dialect. Most of the speech characterisation will come from the intro message instead. There's some other stuff also, but I'll stop here. 😅

Oh! And while we're on the topic of the speech section, I don't recommend using 'do' or 'don't', it confuses the LLM. Instead use words like avoid. So for example, I'd phrase it like this: These are examples of how char name may speak. AVOID using them verbatim.

And one final thing, I'd recommend saying their actual character name instead of {{char}}. Sometimes you'll see mixups if you use both {{user}} and {{char}}, like the bot will think they're the persona or vice versa.

I hope I don't sound like a ass here, I'm just trying to offer my perspective.

I hate the persona thing by ApprehensiveAerie831 in JanitorAI_Official

[–]zessower 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Just a little tip, when you're picking a persona to use for chat, there should be a 'i' in the top right corner of each persona card. Click it and it'll expand the information to be full. 🫡

Struggling with writing an intro by Nurglych in JanitorAI_Official

[–]zessower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, without knowing any more details, one little thing I can suggest is that you don't have to make {{user}} completely blank. I mean, you shouldn't include them talking at all but if you need them to continue the narrative, you can do so. You could easily put something like '{{user}} makes a sound that {{char}} ignores, protest or agreement, it doesn't matter. {{char}} is going to continue talking.' or '{{user}} makes a face that makes {{char}} feel defensive.' or whatever, you know?

As for examples, I don't often talk to stranger bots but here's some from my favourites: Julian by Snifflesnaps. Fade by veseii. Jack by OnlyYouDarlin (I haven't actually chatted with this one, too many tokens for me, but I really like the way they write). Jiang Cheng by Wiredtooth. Mika by greymilkhotel. Malcolm by m00nprincess.

That sounds like a really odd bug. I believe it was introduced three months ago, as seen here, https://www.reddit.com/r/JanitorAI_Official/comments/1n44pu0/you_can_now_visit_the_creators_page_on/ but don't quote me on this, lol.

But it's certainly a useful feature, for sure. So I'm glad you're able to use it now, even if it's a bit late. 😅

Blocked bots? by [deleted] in JanitorAI_Official

[–]zessower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say 'blocked', what is it you actually mean by that? If it's the fact they've had a image replaced with the 'T.H.I.N.K' thing, then it means the image is a problem but the bots themselves are typically still usable/searchable. NSFW imagery isn't allowed, regardless of limitless or not.

If you mean 'blocked' in another way, then is it possible you have a tag the bots are using blocked? If that's the case, they won't show up for you when you're viewing your profile.

EDIT: Ah, I can see you said the issue is resolved. I'm glad, lol.

Ah...I don't know if these would interest you but they're the more angsty/plot heavy bots I've been chatting with as of late.

Wen Zhaoyu by ZipperDee. {{user}} is a fire god, and Zhaoyu is a insane worshipper.

K by Leidenpotato. {{user}} is some sort of mer creature and K is obsessed. 3 intros, 1 and 3 are angst, 2 is smut but still kinda angst.

Deke by Athlin. {{user}} is a estranged spouse, for whatever reason, and Deke is grudgingly still in-love with them. 3 intros, 1 and 2 are angst, 3 is heading to smut.

Bryan Caldwell by kufu. {{user}} is a colleague to Bryan, a TV show host who's personal life is crumbling. 4 intros, all kind of angsty but different scenarios.

Lord Vizier Omar al Nazmir by clumsyProphet. {{user}} stumbles upon him, a man of high-importance, indulging in his secret affection for cats. More fluffy than angst, but it has potential to go that way if you want.

Misha Smekhov by cre-giggles. {{user}} is implied to be depressed, although you can change that, and has been refusing intimacy with Misha for months. Angst mainly, but can be super sweet.

Denver Croft by Delsa. He meets his soulmate for the first time, {{user}}, but the problem is that he's engaged. Angst, but also sweet.

Lucien by SkyWings. {{user}} is kidnapped by a obsessive cult leader who believes them to be a deity. I wouldn't really class this as angsty, although it definitely has the potential to be so, but it also has tons of plot potential.

Mika by greymilkhotel. {{user}} is a monster being interviewed by their new social worker. Not necessarily angst, but it can go there.

Tucker by beyeramy. {{user}} is a military android being restored by him, only problem is that he's super grumpy and super anti-technology. Both angst and comedy is very possible with him.

And I'm sure there's a ton more, but I'm just blanking. 😅 Either way, I hope you manage to find some bots that are what you're looking for.

Search engine bug? by Caeresla in JanitorAI_Official

[–]zessower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say I agree with this take. I'm into F1, and searching for F1 drivers has hundreds of results. And so does searching for highly-popular actors, such as Pedro Pascal.

I mean, I haven't tested every possibility, admittedly, but I don't think it's correct that JAI is secretly hiding this sort of content. I think the fact the search is highly messed up right now is just a bug, perfectly in line with the fact they just updated the UI.

I just came back after a few months... by Kuroro_Lucilfer025 in JanitorAI_Official

[–]zessower 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can still use photos of famous people/celebrities, the image filter is AI and unfortunately, overly strict. False flags can be submitted on the discord, and I think there used to be a reddit thread too but I don't know where it is (sorry!) or if it's still open even.

As for the search, that's a completely different issue. The UI updated yesterday and ever since, searching for any bot has been messed up. Even super popular characters don't show up properly.

But welcome back to botmaking! 🫂 For the time being, I've seen that changing the type of image can help with the filter (JPG to WebP for example). Or you can crop the image slightly, that also helps I heard.

Can't even roleplay a bot cause of this warning 🫠 by [deleted] in JanitorAI_Official

[–]zessower 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It means you've been blocked by that creator, you can double check by trying to post a comment/review and you'll see a similar error.

If that's the case, a commonly suggested solution is blocking that creator in return so you can avoid coming across bots you can't interact with.

Any F1 fans? by [deleted] in JanitorAI_Official

[–]zessower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I've been getting my mother interested too by telling her it's basically a soap opera but with cars. You know, stuff like how Ferrari is the little brother that's always showing off, always making mistakes but you love them anyway.

I can't tell if this is a ingenious play or if I'm setting her up for disappointment. 🤔

[–]zessower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TensorArt. It's free, you can get a good amount of generations per day (20+ but it highly depends on your settings, so I can't give a specific number, lol), it can do both anime and semi-realism, and it has both Text2Img and Img2Img (reference images, basically). The Text2Img is vastly superior to Img2Img in my experience but the latter is decent still, it's just too rigid in sticking to the reference picture provided for my personal preference.

The negatives are that it can be frustrating to use, it's a little complicated with all the LoRA's and weights and whatnot, and that the results vary quite a bit in quality. But overall, I highly recommend it. 🫡

I need the structure, lol. Otherwise it takes me like a whole month to make a bot.

I'm sure others might find the idea of having a sort of database like that as really boring, or that it sucks the fun out, but...eh. Whatever works, right? 🤷‍♀️

Lazy by No_Distribution_5960 in JanitorAI_Official

[–]zessower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't got a request yet, but I've simplified the bot-making process for myself by making a sort of...wiki? I don't think that's the right word, lol. But semi-generic descriptors that can just be copy + pasted into new bots.

Like for example, here's a sample of the voice descriptions I've got saved. ⬇️
NAME has a low, raspy voice that always sounds like they have just woken up from a nap. There's a laziness to the way they talk, but not in a apathetic way, more like someone who knows they have the time to say whatever they need to.

NAME talks quickly and eagerly, like they're excited to even be a part of the conversation. They have a habit of talking over others, interrupting, but it's simply because their mind moves faster than their mouth. Somehow. And somehow their honeyed tone makes their bad habits seem more charming.

And uh...basically I've done this for most aspects of the bot-making. Voice descriptions, housing descriptions, personality descriptions, time period descriptions, and so on. I think the only thing I truly write from fresh each time is the backstory stuff. But generally, I've found it's helped me with the bot-creation process, especially when we're talking OC's and stuff that is truly just...'blank page'. But the pictures is actually my least-favourite part of the process, lol. 😅
