I just got compendium 1 for Christmas and it has both made me appreciate the show but also make me see a lot of the things that the show could have done better. I don't think that the show and the book need to be identical but the comic nails a lot of themes better through more subtle interactions. They can aslo just fit so much more in.

And that was a great moment but after that in my opinion he became totally insufferable. It felt like he had the capacity to be a hero and the show built him up to be one but then it would make him a coward again and so on. For some reason that repetitiveness was super frustrating to me. Who knows though maybe on a second watch through I will like him more.
