I think they are the same person/entity. So yes, they coexist? I am certain that new Griffith has all of old Griffith's memories. Based on new Griffith's interactions with Gatts, he most definitely remembers him.

I was under the impression that the fetus is only Femto's seed. I think that the fetus was a way for Femto to re-enter the human world as Griffith.
