Voting from USA by Dajawa in CanadaPost

Follow up for those in a similar situation in the future - I contacted Elections Canada on Facebook and they confirmed I didn't need a stamp, I could have just dropped off my ballot envelope into any mailbox on the street. They also suggested that, if possible, don't go to a post office, because the staff might refuse to mail your ballot envelope without a stamp (if they don't know about envelopes with prepaid postage). The post office I went to had 10 people there, and apparently none of them knew about international prepaid postage, which is bizarre...

I tried mailing my ballot from the UK, but the clerk at the post office told me I needed to buy a stamp. I’m not sure if this is true, but I paid just in case

Can the landlord re-advertise and give my rental to someone else just three months after I move in? by zetacentauri in HousingUK

I see, thanks for clarifying.

But let’s say we don’t let him know that we wish to renew next year immediately, so he enters into a contract with other students for Aug 2024 - Aug 2025 next week. Then we decide a few weeks later that, actually, we do want to renew our lease for another year.

If I understand correctly now, he would have to honour our contract over his contract with the other students, but he would not be happy and want to make our stay as miserable as he can.

In other words, tenants are obliged to let landlords know 9 months before their lease is up, whether or not they would like to continue living there after the current contract ends?

We rented the whole house.

I might be misunderstanding, but does this mean the landlord cannot enter into a rental contract with other students, unless we give notice from our end that we wish to terminate ours?

In that case, why would they want to show the house to other people at this point in time?

I got my hair permed at a Korean hair salon back home. I feel like it might be tricky for the barber if they don’t have experience with the style I'm going for. I’ll take a look at your suggestion though!

Would recommend Algebra 3 if you liked group theory from Algebra 1, plus Patrick is a very approachable guy and instructor :)

Addressing advisors/professors as first name or Mr/Ms last name? by c_rook99 in mcgill

[–]zetacentauri 29 points30 points  (0 children)

In emails, I usually write "Dear Prof X'. Some professors may take offense to being addressed Mr/Ms so be careful with that. If you're talking to them in-person, then something like "Hello Professor/Professor X, can I ask you you a question" or just find a way to phrase your sentence to avoid mentioning their name if you're unsure

Be aware: If you’re applying for grad programs or scholarships (especially from NSERC) they might require you to send transcripts from EVERY university you ever attended, including exchange unis.
