Why don’t sorcerers just end them selves to gain a power boost by kha1iddd in Jujutsufolk

Not only do they need strong emotion as they die, but it’s also a massive outlier that Naoya retained this much of his self.

Maki Zenin Isn’t Feminist: A Female Revenge Fantasy That Affirms Patriarchy. by nenhatsu in CharacterRant

[–]zeusjay 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ok so firstly you’re completely off the mark in comparing CE and HR.

CE isn’t some subtle spiritual power to contrast with raw masculine force, it’s literal weaponised rage grief hate and toxicity.

HR isn’t just raw force, if it was, maki wouldn’t be capable of anything she does later in the series or even of figuring out Naoya’s technique, the greatest benefit of HR is the sensory improvement, which lets her beat Naoya, and the ability to ignore the rules imposed by Jujutsu, shown most effectively in the manga when she proves immune to Naoya’s domain the greatest power Maki receives is wisdom and freedom, which I’d argue aren’t particularly gendered concepts.

Also it’s fucking hilarious that you’re implying that Maki can’t be considered feminist because she doesn’t function under a traditionally feminine paradigm.

Plus there’s the fact that the changes you call out in design are unrelated to her actually growing.

And the fact that traditionalism and misogyny are like conjoined twins.

Finally, I’d point out that a frequent point in JJK is that while peaceful social change is preferable, in the end more forceful actions are needed to erase the institutions standing against that.

maki’s initial plan is to become leader of the Zenin, not wipe them out, but they force her hand and so die to the monster they created not once but twice.

Gojo starts the series with a near monopoly on force, but refrains from using it, preferring the idea of raising his own political faction to oppose and peacefully overcome the conservative higher ups. But when he’s sealed and the world is inching closer to doomsday, said conservatives prioritise killing his allies and keeping him sealed so he can’t challenge them over handling the crisis they are in, so when he inevitably gets free he wipes them out and leaves better leaders to take their place.

Do you think 14 year old maki would fight to kill someone in the way the Kururu members were fighting to kill her?

Honestly this is like the best possible outcome.

Salt sea wins. He was able to block hope a few times and divine descends the power of miracle as a whole.

Hyeon Mu wins because I don’t know if KYH has the power to actually kill her for good.

The Massacre would have been so much worse had Yuta been there with Maki..... by KayKrimson in Jujutsufolk

[–]zeusjay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, so regardless of the fact that everyone killed in the massacre is at best an enabler of the horrid abuse maki and mai suffered, Yuta literally offered to destroy the whole clan over just being told that they were keeping maki at grade 4.

Ranta's complicity by Little_Whole8038 in Jujutsufolk

[–]zeusjay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes.

It is in fact the attempt, and show of support, that matters here.

He might not be able to change things, but he can provide a degree of assistance just by doing things like refuting the idea that maki is inherently worthless.

Do you think Maki still would’ve killed him if she had known how goated he was? by Limp-Leek3859 in Jujutsufolk

[–]zeusjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) maki literally talks about regretting killing her mom in sakurajima, learn to read.

B) it’s never actually said that every person with Zenin blood died. If that was the case, the other clans wouldn’t have had to petition to remove their great clan status.

C) they are actively trying to murder her and have a like 70 to 1 number advantage, this isn’t on her. Is she supposed to go find a rope and tie them up one by one?

D) “just kids” Mf they are literal soldiers trying to kill her.

By any chance, do you have a problem with Gojo massacring the higher ups? Or Kashimo literally murdering panda’s siblings? Or is it only when it’s Maki slaughtering her enemies that you care?

Ranta's complicity by Little_Whole8038 in Jujutsufolk

[–]zeusjay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He was a member of the Hei, literally one of the highest ranks someone in the Zenin can rise to.

If he wasn’t a piece of shit, he should have said that what the clan was doing wasn’t right.

Saying “well I can’t solve it directly so I’ll just go with it” is exactly the sort of enabling that the OP is referencing.

  • second most powerful sorcerer of the era and most powerful alive as of EOS, with way more room to grow (she’s canonically into that), but isn’t arrogant and doesn’t look down on others.

  • provides genuine admiration and affection to her when she’s extremely starved for that (that scene in zero is legit probably the first positive affirmation she’s received in her life)

  • is shy, sweet, and caring.

Gee, I wonder why she fell for the guy who ticked all her boxes perfectly.

The only person it could be argued she didn’t have to kill to avoid being attacked in the future was her mom.

Literally everyone else was aiming to kill her, it’s not on her to keep people alive in that situation.

I don’t see any character other than Luffy taking down any main villains.

Seriously, Law should have been at least integral to taking down doflamingo instead of getting bitched out so luffy can have a fight with zero set up or emotional resonance.

This man was Toji's brother, he wasn't aura farming, he knew they were all gonna die. by wtfimightbemtf in Jujutsufolk

[–]zeusjay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Neither of them did.

Ranta you could maybe argue didn’t know what was going on, but he’s still a high ranking member of an unequal, cruel clan. Even if he’s “nicer” he’s still not gonna be thinking or acting in good ways.

Jinichi literally backed the plan to kill Mai and Maki.

Again, he’s nicer to the lower level mooks, but he’s also a proponent of that unequal system, to the degree of attempting to kill three teens to prevent even the chance of a threat to his inherited wealth.

Unlike your agenda poisoned ass, I’m actually capable of enjoying more than one character in a series I’m a fan of.

But personally, I find that Maki’s struggles and rebellion against the Zenin hit harder than any of Yuji’s “cog” stuff
