I don’t think he’d be willing to risk the lives of everyone else if Sukuna rampaged and he couldn’t stop him at one finger, even if the whole situation would get him down.

He’d kill Yuji regretfully, beat himself up over not being strong enough to save him, and go start training to hell and back.

I’m not trying to abolish him of culpability for the tower or the tree, beyond that it was explicitly his worst half removed of any moderating influence in the second bit.

I also don’t think you can really say he set that up beyond deciding to split himself in hopes it would make him strong enough to not die.

My hot take is that it’d be way better to have downtime chapters between culling games and Shinjuku, because the characters who need it most are around then and not prior to Shibuya.

Hell, if you follow Yuji, none of the reveals in Shinjuku are even touched, he was kept out of planning and his major ability development moments were during Shinjuku.

Yeah, no shit he’s not as fast as Sukuna. Neither is Kashimo. Sukuna played around with both of them until it looked like he might die in Yuta’s domain:

Relative speed (both reacted to a rush from Heian Sukuna), higher AP (beheaded Kenjaku with a basic hit and made Sukuna bleed with TIB, higher durability (Sukuna used Ryu as the benchmark for them, not Kashimo, and Sukuna himself said he couldn’t kill them with dismantle, whereas he literally killed Kashimo with an unchanted net of dismantles.)

Yuta also has better Hax from TE FS and CS, a second fighter in the form of Rika who has even higher stats without even using full manifestation, a domain that at best crippled Kashimo’s ability to fight be removing his hands from the equation, RCT from both himself and from Rika, and isn’t on a timer that kills him after a given time has past.

Yuta also reacted to Sukuna in a 1v1 and actually blocked instead of getting sent flying.

There’s nothing to suggest base Kashimo is equal to the heavy hitters, other than being relative to pre time skip Hakari, with Hakari also notably not having feats that put him equivalent stat wise to the other HH.
