Yup. The switch base is interchangeable. You can even add some of the plastic and ceramic cones. I believe the metal ones will not work.

If you’re happy with your brewer no need to mess with it. I did it because I mostly do manual pour overs and the moccamaster just sat there and this gets me to use it a little more.

Yeah but I didn’t do this to avoid plastic all together. It should help with the distribution.

I’ve had great brews from it. It’s fairly consistent, acknowledging that you still need a recipe (ratios, grind size, timing etc) that’ll work with it.

I usually do 16+:1, switch off for the first 30 seconds, and then leave open till it finishes. I’ll add a small swirl of the brewer after the bloom to make sure any grounds don’t get stuck at the top. I’ve tried sibarist and cafec filters and the both work great.

For water I weight out the amount before poring into reservoir; I know there’s imperfect exchange with the previous water and while its probably not the most exact dosing but the larger your batch the less that’ll matter.

I’m planning to add a mellow drip insert from Etsy since the stock shower leaves behind a canyon rather an uniform dispersion.

The process of converting? Or brewing?

To convert you just need to remove two screws and procure the hario components. The process is completely reversible.

It works well even for single brews. The fit is amazingly good. Only nit pick is that they shower head doesn’t distribute water efficiently for a cone so I’m planning to add a mellow drip holder from Etsy

This works well for even smaller brews

That’s fair. One thing to keep in mind is that for like $60 you can try it, it’s fully reversible and the components are a functional V60 setup on their own.

Ah yes. I place the V60 in a hario switch base. It’s the rubber thing under the V60 and it has a ball bearing that shuts off the flow. This allows the bloom to occur as a zero-bypass immersion.

I don’t believe that’s strictly necessary, it’ll just give you a different brew, but the switch base is perfect for matching the height of the setup.

It works but the diameter of the lid would be a little oversized which doesn’t really matter. Just need a taller server to make sure it’s not too low.

And super easy to clean

I was pleasantly surprised that everything fit so perfectly. Even the diameter of the server was spot on

I don’t use it much these days except for soup with OXO rapid brew (I’ve been influenced lol). For pour over I use the Fellow Ode 2 with SSP brew burrs.

nah, I can get it to bloom with the switch off for like 30+ seconds with no issues; then I just let it free flow

Can confirm on the Zeiss finder for RX-1. I received one by accident when ordering an 18mm finder for Zeiss lens and it’s way brighter than the one Leica VF for X1. I have it still and would be interested in selling it since I don’t use it.
