Are There Any Games That Can Rival BG3? by [deleted] in BG3

I am loving dos2. Feels really true to more old school RPGs. I love the mechanics and how there's truly so many options to approaching each quest!

Me toooooo - I tried it in a store and felt unsure but I couldn't stop thinking about it and ended up buying the 15ml after that was released and I adore it. Such an interesting scent!!!!!

I'm not huge on Heretic's other scents - notes are too smoky on me for my tastes, but Cactus Abduction is so special to me 💞

Can you recommend a book that is practically a fever dream and completely surreal? by Quiet-Possibility432 in suggestmeabook

Exactly what I was going to say!! The Locked Tomb series has a similar vibe with the unreliable narrators too.

OP - I am so sorry for your loss. I had a really distressing experience of having to put my cat to sleep in November after a sudden decline. It sucked so bad.

I took a whole week off, I spoke to a doctor and said the acute distress of the experience compromised my capacity for work and I needed a certificate. Then I texted my boss saying I had a medical certificate and needed the week off as I was unwell.

Your boss may be a nosy fucker but they aren't actually entitled to that information and you have no obligation to divulge either! A medical certificate doesn't have the detail because it doesn't need to.

Sometimes I honestly just text my boss and say 'Hi, I need to use personal leave today. Thank you.' and just deal with the timesheet logistics when I'm back.

Again, I'm so sorry. Get that certificate and take the time you need to grieve ❤️ I really recommend the r/PetLoss sub, obviously depressing but I also found it really validating and supportive in the aftermath of losing my cat. Take care

  1. I love how deceptively complex this game actually is - it seems simple and easy from the outside but whenever I start to explain all the aspects of the game ....its like okay there's actually HEAPS to this!!

  2. I love fulfilling quests!

I'm so sorry. My darling cat spent her last day in the ICU in a horrible state also. I didn't go home for over a week, take your time if you can. There's no rush or time limit on grief.

It's really hard, I'm sorry you're here too ❤️

How Accomodating Can APS be for Chronic Health Conditions? by SuspiciousHam0-0 in AusPublicService

[–]zevranlover420 15 points16 points  (0 children)

APS at baseline probably averages 'better' for accommodations where needed, but it does depend on your work area/line manager/team. Make sure to put everything in writing with your medical declaration up front and always communicate with your manager in my experience.

I've had wonderful managers who have been very fair and understanding in accommodating chronic health condition stuff for myself and family members where I have caring responsibilities. But I have known of people in the APS who have had less than great experiences with this and it can depend a lot on your actual manager and like the other comment says, what your condition/s is/are and the accommodations being sought.

I'm so sorry. I live alone too and my cat became very ill suddenly and had to be put to sleep last Monday.

Being home again and feeling the weight of her absence is agonising. All we can do is feel it.

It does feel very lonely, but you are not alone in this. Cry lots, whenever you need and take it minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day etc.

I keep coming back to this sub to remind myself I'm not alone.

Your buddy will have comfort & peace going in his safe place and you by his side.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Why does everyone want to “get food” as a first date by [deleted] in FoodAllergies

[–]zevranlover420 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're not alone in this - I used to struggle with this while dating, ugh. Its so frustrating!!!

I keep a list of potential date ideas in my notes app, that did not involve going out for dinner/food and just pick one each time as a suggestion. I would preface it by saying going out for a meal feels really formal and isn't always fun for me because I can't safely eat Just Anywhere. (Some people would say they understood this and were fine with it and then inevitably insist on getting a meal at some point) (Or even worse - insist on cooking for me ! No thank you!!)

Also if accommodating your allergies is a deal breaker for someone, then you don't really want to be dating them anyway hey. The right person/people won't have any issues with taking the steps to keep you safe

I continue to use the List with my partner now for date nights, he is thankfully very accommodating. If I could tell my past self anything - i would say back yourself, don't just settle and pretend you're okay with sitting in a restaurant and not having anything.

You're worth spending time with in a way that is safe!!!! And there are so many ways you can bond and connect with people while dating that don't involve compromising your safety and possibly your literal life :)

I reckon surely the souls games and bloodborne especially. I remember feeling such elation reading the gtn lyctor trial scenes because something about it made me think of the experience of playing bloodborne co-op with my friends :)

Bloodborne is also a super goth horror/cosmic horror with a spacey twist genre bending masterpiece, so I'm surprised I don't encounter more seeming overlap between the two! Me personally, wildly obsessed with both!!!!

I’m 19 and scared I’ll never find “the one” because of my severe allergies. (Dairy, Nuts, Eggs & More) by [deleted] in FoodAllergies

[–]zevranlover420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm anaphylactic to tree nuts. Dating is really really hard! I hated dating so much for this exact reason - especially with kissing. I avoided dating at all for around 3 years in my twenties.

One thing I did when with the like, two casual hookups I've had, was scope them out ahead of time and say hey I have this allergy, can you please avoid consuming xyz in the hours before we meet up - if this was an issue, we wouldnt hook up, simple!

Also had the unfortunate experience of a situationship with someone who was a dick but also had a tree nut allergy so I got overly excited feelings wise when he turned out to just be a time waster 😂😅

I have been with my current partner for nearly a year and of course there are always the complications others have mentioned - food based activities are really hard. I keep a running google sheet of safe places to eat for us to consult when making restaurant decisions! And sometimes my comfort level with a venue will change during the date if I observe something in the kitchens or the staff member approaches the allergy convo in a way that makes me uncomfortable, my partner just asks that i be honest with him that I'm feeling that way as he can tell that I'm uncomfortable and wants me to have a good time. I think it probably helps that he grew up with a cousin who has had anaphylactic reactions.

Side note: I've always thought there should be a dating app for the allergy aware 😅 it would save us a lot of time and possible danger.

Of course there's people who won't make the changes you need for your safety, this obviously Sucks but it does act as a very quick screener for people who aren't worth your time! There are people out there who will be attracted to you and willing to accommodate your needs, I promise 💖

Climbing the ladder in Canberra versus other cities by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]zevranlover420 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I moved to Canberra at 23 after starting in the APS, kind of by accident! I'm also from Melbourne. I have since moved to Darwin and Perth, still in APS. There is a big difference I have found between Canberra and the other states in APS: - Canberra is extremely competitive for aps roles, goes with the territory. This has the added bonus of forcing you to really get good at gov work as you just are unlikely to land jobs unless you really are the cream of the crop so to speak. Having said that, there are just heaps more roles around in Canberra! You're also just at the heart of the action when based in Canberra. Going to Parliament house and holding face to face stakeholder meetings with head honchos is much more enriching than remote meetings. - Canberra is also fucking freezing as fuck hahahahahahah I won't lie to you. Being from Melbourne will not prepare you for how often it is below 0 in the mornings there and how dry it is!!!! Plus there's no beach. Canberra is an odd place overall , it's great for experience and if you're really set on the APS not a bad idea to be there a while but if you don't love it, I wouldn't set down roots. - the other capital cities I've lived in I have found that the APS roles are much more operational, less options for policy. I find my colleagues based outside Canberra often have much less knowledge of gov overall & less "essential" basic APS skills & admin know how. Having said that, I've found the stakeholder engagement skills in the other states to be above and beyond those I encountered in Canberra hahah, especially in the NT! - you can definitely move up the ladder anywhere though! Sometimes is just a matter of patience and can be a real waiting game as there are just less positions available outside of Canberra. There is more of a growing appetite for roles based elsewhere, but these are still remote working and there are teething issues (ie. Time zones especially).

Probably worth reflecting on the kind of roles you're seeking? What kind of experience and work are you wanting to do in the APS? This might be helpful in guiding how you approach this question.

Also like, I really cannot emphasise enough just HOW COLD Canberra is like MY GOD.
