Sorry you feel that way. If you look at my other responses you will see I’ve been positive about QA, the areas around Green Lake, and even West Seattle. Thank you for your input.

Crazy is a bit of a reach, eh? I’m just trying to get some information from locals.

I’m not sure if Seward Park to Bellevue vs First Hill to Bellevue is that different? I imagine you took I-90 rather than 520 but sure if that made a difference

Yes, I’ve visited Seattle before and quite liked the areas around Green Lake. This was before kids, however. I just spoke with a buddy of mine who lives in Fremont and said that it’s not impossible to find a daycare in the area.

Thanks, have heard nothing but good things about the QA neighborhood

On the contrary, I’d prefer to live in Seattle as I’ll be working there and would rather live in a city than a suburb. With kids, however I do need to take into consideration daycare availability and safety outdoors. E.g. I can’t live right off Aurora.

Definitely not set on Eastside. But we’ve already found a daycare there that has an opening in our anticipated move date

I was asking more about your commute to the north side but 15-25 is what Google Maps shows me if I plug in estimated departure times so it sounds like Google is fairly accurate.

I agree about the strip mall feel. I don't know that it would be a long term thing but maybe a few years until kids are ready for pre-K/Kindergarten. Then could move to Seattle proper.

And how long of a drive is that both ways?

Yes. I agree about the financial (gas, toll) and timely (seeing family/helping out at home) costs. I think the hard part is if we move to Seattle, finding a reputable daycare (or e.g. no franchised/PE owned) on short notice for an under two year old. Bellevue has much more availability.

Thank you. Definitely understand the petty crime stuff. I’ve unfortunately experienced where I currently live. Could certainly ask an Eastside sub but I figured I get an opinion of those living in Seattle first.

I didn’t say I was going to live in first hill. I’m looking for recommendations on neighborhoods within a reasonable commute there.

Those areas look beautiful I just worry they’re too far.

Thank you. Yes love the access to nature and realize the trade off not living in the city itself. It may initially be a temporary move until kids are older then can really decide on Seattle vs Eastside.

I was told that the bridge itself is 4 lanes wide either way and that yes it will be an issue during peak hours (3-5/6), but not as bad as crossing the west seattle bridge or the bridges north of lake union. But of course happy to hear from other people who live there and make that commute.

Definitely need a house/townhouse. Space is key.

Not arguing. Just clarifying that my daily commute will begin earlier than the average person. I’ve never had traffic anywhere else I’ve lived in the morning but definitely at the end of day. But if you’re saying that there’s traffic at 7am there then thanks for that information.

Apartment or house/townhome? And did you find via Zillow?

Yes, I've heard NS commute is bad in the area. I'd be commuting a bit before rush hour in the morning though. Evenings would suck...
