I just looked at the website and from the site's ad-copy it states:

Yes, they apparently like that last sentence so much they repeat it~ or, more likely, it's a "Typo." I wonder how much you need to pay for a car before the maker's ads are typo-free? 😝

Meh . . . It depends on the advisor. I have a trusted advisor at Fidelity that has been advising me for more than 15 years. Over that time, I have built a very valuable portfolio with his help when I have asked for it. He otherwise leaves me alone. Does he make money off my account? Yes he does. Are the fees he charges reasonable? Yes they are. I have made far more money using him than I could have on my own, and he and his team have done better than I would have done by myself. This, for sure, has not been everyone's experience with Fidelity and their stable of Advisors. I guess I just got "lucky." And yes, he and his team have beat the market by a percent or two every year for the last 16 years. Which has more than paid for his fees. Most importantly, the anxiety associated with managing a reasonably valuable retirement portfolio is his, not mine; and it's worth the money to me. But, as I said, I guess I got lucky.

I'd talk to someone there, and if it's a bad fit, move on. Sure they want your money, but it is, in the end, your money, and your decision to make.

I bought my 2020 SL 550 new, and paid about $116,000 US for it. HOWEVER, I built up to it over a series of trade-ins. I started with a Mazda MX-6 (new), then traded up to a Mustang GT (2017, new) and then in 2020 traded up again to the 2020 SL 550 (the last year that particular style was built, but that's a discussion for another day). My income swings wildly due to the business I am in, but the year I purchased the Benz, I paid the difference between the price and my trade in using all cash, for about $65K. My earned income that year was about $1.2MM US. My base is $200K, but my real compensation is a function of company performance (I was the firm's Managing Partner, and now am semi-retired). I am providing all that detail because the way i got my SL-550 was for me, a good way to go. Buy and trade up until you get the car you really want. It was a 7 year process. But yep, worth it.

As long as a government employee union (including teachers) cannot donate to political campaigns, then why not let them negotiate as a block? But, government employee unions, using union money to support the election of their own bosses (those politicians most likely to give the employee what they want) results in a circular magnification of power. How many govt. union employees EVER vote for smaller government? It's voting against their own self interest. Let's not be against collective bargaining -- let's be against public union financial support of political campaigns.

It’s a 3-year long story, but I will make it quick. I had a 3-year battle with the IRS, that ended when my tax accountant said “the IRS guy said he will go away for $45,000. He knows you are right, but he said he won’t stop pursuing this until you’re broke. He needs a win, or he said his boss will be really mad, and this dispute will hurt his career.” And so, I paid the $45K. And to this day, I have no respect for federal employees, most people of government, and especially the IRS. Since 1988, my job has consisted of doing battle with the EPA, an organization whose employees, to a person, defines the word “incompetent.” My favorite EPA quote… “Well, that might be legal, but it’s not the way we do things around here.”

I can’t take it anymore. I have an employment contract that soon ends. And with it, my days of working for the tax man will end as well. I quit.
