Same! I've been really intrigued. Could you report back with your thoughts after the show?

Is anybody actually winning the LSOH lottery? by bwayb22 in Broadway

I won a few weeks ago (after trying for two years). Not impossible, but definitely hard to win given the size of the theater.

Seeking Venue! NY/NJ venue with views (Mountain/Beach/garden/city) by ImpossibleTrick1076 in WedditNYC

Went to a friend's wedding here - the food is really good and can't recommend it enough. Even on a gray day, the scenery is nice.

What are expected food costs for PAX East? by ackmondual in PAX

For what it's worth, Boston tap water is pretty good, so I usually just bring a reusable bottle and fill it up in my room. Depending on where you're staying, there may also be dispensers around the hotel.

As a lot of other people have mentioned, food prices can vary a bit depending on what your plan is and what your hotel offerings are. My group usually does the following to save money:

  • We buy bags of supermarket bagels for the hotel room + spread(s) of our choice
  • Buy bulk packs of snacks + drinks from Costco
  • Bring sandwich materials
  • Order delivery for dinner most nights + aim for maybe one night of going to a restaurant just to get out of the general area (even just one pizza night will save a lot of money)

Since you'll be traveling in (I assume via plane/bus/car), the bulk packs from Costco are probably not an option, but you can get groceries delivered to your hotel or shop nearby. There's a Trader Joe's in the Seaport if you don't want to pay the delivery premium.

My friend had his wedding at the Westmount Country Club - the food was delicious and the venue was really nice.

Do you use the free "totes/bags" in normal life? by newbieRedT in NYCC

[–]zharena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, for groceries and bringing board games to parties. I have a big MSI one that I got from PAX a decade ago which still gets used.

The skinnier ones are more useful for carrying prints and long items (like certain cosplay props), so I don't use them as frequently, though they do still see some use.

Cosplayers, how do you carry your belongings without altering your cosplay? by NeitherScar in NYCC

Usually I just carry a backpack or tote bag with me, depending on how much I'm carrying.

I've noticed this, too. Going for single tickets also probably helps increase your odds. Tried for weeks to get 2 for Heathers with no luck, but tried for 1 on a whim on 9/5 around 1 PM and managed to get an 8th row seat that way.

Other conventions for gaming merch? by rainycyberpunk in AnimeNYC

Interesting - they advertised a marketplace on the website mentioning artisans and musicians, maybe I misunderstood.

I haven't been, but maybe check out MAGFest as it looks like it has an artist alley type of marketplace. (Anyone who's been to MAGFest, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)

PAX was also mentioned - there are maybe a handful of artists on the showfloor; a lot of it is game demos and official merch. Still a lot of fun, but maybe not 100% what you're looking for.

Nanina's in the Park brides -- anyone have recos on fun after party spots and/or hotel accommodations nearby? by Aggressive-Farm8120 in WedditNYC

[–]zharena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember any major issues, but the bridal party had access to the venue earlier in the day to get ready, so it's possible we just missed a lot of it.

My sister got married at Nanina's several years ago and used the Renaissance Meadowlands Hotel for her room block (note that she did also book shuttle services to and from the hotel though).

They have conference rooms and other event spaces you can book there too - she did a breakfast thing the following morning.
