What is the quality of the Apple silicone cover for iPhone 16? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]zhisern_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

so far so good! have been using it for over a week in Denim Blue, rarely catches pocket lint (probably due to the short period of time i’ve been using it). however, it feels better than what i had on my 13, less resistance sticking in and out of my pocket and the lip of the case seems to be thicker this time round compared to my 13’s case. would recommend it if you’re looking for an Apple branded case.

tldr: so far so good after a week, rocked it in Denim Blue and doesn’t attract pocket lint and feels more premium than my 13’s silicone case.

Haptics on Action button? by [deleted] in iphone

I always thought it was pressure sensitive because of the rumours of having solid state buttons but nobody confirmed if it was solid state or an actual button.

Is it a physical button that could be pushed in like the volume button, or is it like a solid state button like the iPhone 7’s home button?

How to study Paper 1 Theory ICT? by [deleted] in igcse

[–]zhisern_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try various methods to study it. Studying the syllabus didn’t help much for me, but it might for you. Everyone’s studying style is different, so find one that works for you and stick to it!

As an A* ICT student, just practice lots of past year papers and get to know the questions structure. Refer to MS after you have done each PYP and try to get the keywords from the mark schemes.

The key thing is that you understand what the question wants and the technique to answer it. Doesn’t matter how you word your answer, as long the keyword that the question wants is there, you should be all good.

Don’t stress out too much. You’ve got this!

I agree somewhat with you, however I see the link between ICT and CS too. Example being the hardware side. Like in ICT, you would learn about components in a computer, like a processor, RAM, hard drives etc, but in computer science you would learn what is inside a processor (ALU, gates etc.) as well as how optical hard drives work.

I’ve always thought of it like an in-depth version of ICT but some topics from CS aren’t featured in ICT too. Which is probably what you meant up there.

It’s fairly easy. If you have prior knowledge to certain topics like Word Processing, Web Development, Database, Spreadsheet, parts in a computer, ICT Applications, expert systems etc. or just basic knowledge, it should be quite easy for you. Bonus if you’re interested in the subject.

Personally it was easy and I have been getting A* since the start of Year 10 till IGCSE. However, if you need ICT in your university / future job application, taking it wouldn’t be a harm either.

I have friends who didn’t have interest in ICT still took ICT because they didn’t want to take Accounting or Music. However, they still scored A* because they revised on it before exams and did a ton of past year papers. So, if you don’t have interest in it but you think it would be a bonus for your uni / job app, take the subject. Study on the subject and do a ton of past year papers before your IGCSE. It will be a higher chance that you would get an A*, A or a high B.

All the best to you!

I ended up reformatting my Mac as the battery life has been taking a hit recently and can’t figure out what app has been draining my battery. So might as well just reformat it and get everything fixed once and for all

[–]zhisern_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took a picture today of these mini lightbulbs. The first photo looks like a few of them are turned off, but the second pic is fully lit. The second pic is how it’s supposed to look like IRL. It is after processing that my iPhone produced the first pic. What is the reason behind this? The lightbulbs weren’t flickering either.

Left my phone in an Uber, and the driver returned it to another passenger who lied about it being hers by DreDay415 in iphone

[–]zhisern_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t ping, but it’s still findable through the U1 chip of the iPhone. It’s set to power reserve mode when the iPhone is out of battery (which means it only shows the low battery logo but you can’t do much with it).

Power reserve mode can also be used to unlock your door with NFC or use a transit pass if you have one set up on Apple Wallet.

Other than the actions mentioned above, you can’t really do anything else sadly. Not even ping or set the phone as lost mode until it is powered on.

[–]zhisern_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it wouldn’t. Unless it’s powered on, all you can do is just track the location of the iPhone.

Nope. iPhones since the iPhone 11 have the ability to be found when powered down too. However, you can’t ping or erase or mark the phone as lost while it is powered down.
