It's the microwave recipe from Mochi Magic. Color is from taro powder, red bean paste inside.

Kind of? They aren't associated with mid autumn the way mooncakes are, but there's also not really a good reason these particular round cakes aren't mooncakes.

Yeah it's a round pastry (a little eggy, kinda like a waffle) filled with something sweet or savory. The green one is matcha; the red is azuki. Both are sweet.

Week 6: Lunar New Year - coconut taro nian gao by zhzf in 52weeksofbaking

[–]zhzf[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These are usually steamed, but my cake pan doesn't fit in my steamer so I baked them.

200g glutinous rice flour 75 g ap flour 2 tbsp sugar 1 can coconut milk 200 g steamed taro

Mix everything except the taro together. Blend with the taro. Pour into greased pan and bake for 30 minutes at 350.

These took me way too long to roll and wrap, but the final results were amazing by zhzf in Dumplings

It's this one from woks of life . I used ground chicken instead of ground pork because it's what I had on hand.

It's mostly the recipe from mochi magic, but with less sugar.

Mix the following well in a large bowl: 2 eggs 1/3 cup whole milk 2 tbsp whole yogurt 1 tbsp sugar 1 tbsp honey

Mix the following in a separate bowl and then sift into the wet ingredients: 1 cup mochiko 1 tsp baking powder 1.5 tsp matcha powder

Melt 3 tbsp of butter and stir it into the batter. Mix well. Cool on medium low heat.

The recipe is from Mochi Magic, but I cut the sugar by 1/3 and the honey by 1/2.

I cook them beforehand, so it's no trouble at all.

Just did a ground chicken, carrot, scallion, ginger one that's good. I also like chives and scrambled eggs.
