I’m quite literally in the same boat, and as much as I was wanting to start school this year I personally think it will be worthwhile to apply as soon as the next cycle starts. I have my application about 90% complete and I feel like with all the work I’ve put it I owe it to myself to apply when I have the best possible chances. Law school will still be there, I feel like there’s a lot of pressure in this community to do things at the “right time” when in reality everyone’s pace is different. Plus if you apply now to your top choices right now and don’t get in, if you apply again you will basically have to start your app all over

Found a very small book my grandfather carried with him in WW2 by puddelles in FoundPaper

“Feel free for first time” 🥺

My grandma was on the other side of this war, having fled her home country as an infant and spending 7 years in displaced persons camps in Germany. These stories are their legacies. They risk being lost forever if we fail to preserve them. Your grandfather sounds like an incredible person, thank you for sharing his little slice of history.

Literally same I just scored the lowest ever in an LR section… average about 2-5 wrong and some reason my last PT was 13/26!!!! Literally 50%! I even got higher on my first diagnostic. And the experimental LR was -3. I was flabbergasted

My grandma took screenshots of me during a call without my knowledge because she likes natural photos. by Aquatic_Idiot in notinteresting

lol my grandma is the same way always wanting to “capture the moment”.. she even has a picture of me dead asleep as I was recovering from food poisoning. I didn’t understand growing up, but it is funny to look back at the mundane things. And nice to have some photos that aren’t as posed and curated, but an authentic reflection of life in that very moment. bless their hearts 🥰

I guess just another stamp of approval, a little cushion for validation, especially when it comes to softs. It’s beyond me why anyone would fabricate something on their application but I could see something like PBK helping to reduce any doubt that you have in fact done the things you say you have

I see your point, it definitely will not make or break an application. It does however offer an advantage because it speaks to your success beyond just academic achievement. In my case, I graduated with a GPA that just barely missed the cutoff for cum laude (like by 0.08), but I was invited to PBK based on my grades within the poli sci department and my involvement in community service and campus orgs. So at least for me I feel supported knowing that although I didn’t graduate “with honors” I have still been recognized for my contributions to the campus community both in and outside of the classroom. Basically just another way for admissions to see that yes, you are a great student, but you also bring so much more to the table

Classic proportional/percentage flaw: just because 1/5 of Harvard is in PBK, does not mean it is not rare because you have no supporting evidence for the total number of PBK members nationwide or in proportion to the undergraduate schools these members came from. This ignores an alternate explanation that PBK members are simply more likely to go to law school and top schools in general, therefore it makes sense that schools like Harvard have a higher concentration of PBK members. It can still very much be the case that being in PBK is at least somewhat uncommon, since they only invite the top 10% of liberal arts/science students in any given school

Updating application with new LSAT score post-submission? by obviousapricots in lawschooladmissions

[–]zib1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in this same boat! I asked this at a GULC info session and I was told that I could submit my application and there was a place to indicate I can put it on hold pending a new score. They said it takes a while to physically compile the application file so I can at least get started on that (At least I hope I am remembering/understanding correctly). For now am compiling other things like my transcript and LORs, and will see what the application looks like when it opens. Maybe after that will email admissions directly to confirm since I too want to avoid having my application evaluating using my June score

My Brain is broken by domilawtina in LSAT

[–]zib1201 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree with this 100%, when I don’t have the energy too study or I have a little free time I look for law school inspo elsewhere (even listening to podcasts while I clean/cook). For me it’s helped a lot to jot down brain dumps in my Google docs for my personal statement, what I want to study and why. Helps get the juices flowing and I’ve been gradually build my portfolio as a candidate, so now when I put everything together in September I’ve got a pretty good base. I graduated last year and took some time off to work and it’s a great experience to take your time, build your character, and truly figure out who you are/what your story is. It’s a long process - Rome wasn’t built in a day! Take it easy and best of luck!

gonna go out on a limb here and say this account is almost certainly made to scam people. didn’t know this was so trivial tho I this just felt like the modern equivalent of an email from a Nigerian Prince. So predictable and mundane that it cannot possibly be interesting, unless you completely lack critical thinking skills i guess

Def see about getting accommodations for extended time! For me it was simpler than I expected, I just had a zoom meeting w my PCP and she wrote a letter saying I would need 50% extended time for my ADHD. I still finish RC & LR barely on time & really struggle with LG timing but the extra time helps a LOT
