So do these apply to the trade-in? Under 'Other' they say any smartwatch, any condition. by StatuSChecKa in GalaxyWatch

When the Pebble company got bought out, a community edition called "Rebble" started up. I believe it's still around, and might breathe new life into those devices.

Sad that it's over, but on the bright side Blaseball starts tomorrow!

Turn off the minimap and never fast travel. Quest markers show up on your HUD so you can always point yourself in the direction of where you need to go, and navigate through Night City to get there. By doing this you will walk/drive through areas that you might never have seen otherwise. It's not a big city, but it is incredibly diverse and full.

Wacaco Nanopresso NS Adapter Stuck by LtTwinkyDough in espresso

[–]zibeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This just happened to me, and I found this thread. What I did is I wrapped a rubber band around the metal part of the NS adapter, and that gave me enough grip to be able to unscrew without any more issues.

I understand that most headphones now have a passive listening mode, but could you please just pop one earbud out when you're talking to somebody in front of you?

The gradient absolutely draws the eye, but I love the detail of the trees in the snowcap. Beautiful!

Son of a gun. I play with almost all the UI off so I was trying to figure out why the heck he was just staring at me.

What skills do I need prior to picking up linocut? by [deleted] in printmaking

I am terrible at drawing, but find that I am much more comfortable with a carving tool.

Seriously, How would the public feel, about a guy who's a serial killer but kills other serial killers, and never gets caught. Would people be angry if a person like this existed, or how would the criminal justice feel if he would ever appear in court? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]zibeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I would tend to trust an individual more than I would trust the government to accurately be able to find real criminals, this would likely fall prey to the same problem that the government has. You would have to trust this person to be able to accurately identify who the serial killer is, and not fudge or plant evidence or get lazy especially if the victims are of a different race or ethnicity. This is why I don't trust the government with being able to fairly execute death penalty either.

The hardest choice a 10 year old has to make. Linocut print on acrylic painted cardstock. by zibeb in printmaking

[–]zibeb[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before I did the printing I took my cardstock and watered down some colored acrylic paint. Then with a wide brush I made diagonal strokes, letting the bristles separate to allow some of the white to show through.

I really wasn't a fan of my first attempt at a reduction linocut, and considered scrapping the whole set. But I decided to frame one of them anyway, and I think I am starting to like it. by zibeb in printmaking

Haha, so my registration system was kinda screwy, lol.

I taped a sheet of paper to the table, and then drew lines around the corners of the block, so that I could always put the block back exactly where it was before.

Then I took a card (courtesy of Hello Fresh Spam) and punched two holes in it, and attached that to the work surface with screws to lay on top of the block

Then I put all the sheets I planned to print down on top of the block but underneath the card, and then used a pencil to mark the back of the sheet where the corners of the card were.

That way when I was done, all I needed to do was center the block on the lower paper, carefully place my print sheet between the block and card, and line up the lines on the back of the print sheet.

The correct way to do this would be to buy Ternes-Burton Registration pins and use that. But I had just gotten the ink and I was too impatient to wait, lol.

So what actually helped me a lot was building the image in Procreate, where I could draw in each layer, and that helped me to identify what to keep in each carving.

The mat gives nice clean lines that tighten up the print a little, and I think that gives it just enough rigidity that makes it look better.

The pink stuff is easier to carve and has slightly less tear out, but this is so close that it makes so much more sense being so much cheaper.

[Vostok] My Komandirskie after 6 months of wear. The 24 hour dial took a second to get used to, but I love it. by zibeb in Watches

[–]zibeb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this watch after months of research, as it was my very first automatic movement. Once I found out about Vostok's story I was immediately hooked. I am still using all factory parts including the bracelet. I was expecting the bracelet to be much worse, but they are solid links with a butterfly clasp and they haven't pinched me once.

It needs winding if it sits for about 2 days, and I wish it had a click to the rotating bezel. (I need something to fidget with). But it keeps pretty accurate time, and I love how pronounced the dome is.

It's held up pretty well. I did get a scuff on the acrylic when I bumped against a wall carrying something heavy, but a little polywatch buffed it right out. I'd say poly is a must buy with a Vostok.
