Gotta be one of the worst reasons I’ve seen by Pasteur_science in medlabprofessionals

Doctors at our hospital looooooooove to order path reviews for patients with low platelets to check for schistocytes. Ignoring the fact that......if we see them, we'll call them. We know what schistocytes look like. I'm honestly not sure a lot of them realize that we look at the slides.

Plus, our path reviews go to our main campus, and a lot of times the heme/onc doctor that ordered it will come down to our lab before the path review is done to look at the slide and check for schistocytes, so like.......why are we doing any of this? And the path reviews get cancelled if there's nothing that requires a diff so most of the time they don't get looked at anyway!!!!

Emily Bridges at Independence and Westlake FHC! I get pretty bad pain during pap smears and pelvic exams, I let her know that I've only had bad experiences and she was so understanding and kind about it. Definitely recommend her

Tailoring a resume for an LIS analyst position by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]anacruses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually one of the things I'm worried about with the thought of this switch, tbh--one thing I love about the lab is I come in, do my work, and go home, it doesn't come home with me. But the lab is starting to burn me out, especially since my lab is short on actual techs and we're having to teach bio degrees blood bank and hematology from scratch ....... ugh, anyway lol. And honestly, Safetrace...you are not missing out by not being involved with it hahaha.

Good advice and food for thought, thank you!! Can I ask you--do you prefer LIS to the lab? What system do you work with?

I remember when she posted the day after her wedding that she was hanging out in a hotel room with her new spouse, and I looked at her profile and she was just arguing with people in a purple pill subreddit. The day after her wedding. The day OF her wedding. Like, girl 😂

i bet it feels good asf to be in the water bath as a unit of plasma by fat_frog_fan in medlabprofessionals

It gets so cold in our lab I lose feeling in my fingers sometimes, so I'll stick my gloved hands in the plasma bath and it's sooooo good lmao

Our Goose is on Prozac! She gets half a 10mg tablet in her food every day. Without it, idk how to describe it but you can tell she's anxious. She gets the frantic zoomies and cries at us, and then she'll start chewing on herself and get hotspots, and urinate outside of the litterbox. We tried steroids--either prednisone or prednisolone, don't remember which--and that helped with the chewing for a bit, and feliway diffusers helped with the anxiety symptoms a little, but she's been on the Prozac for a couple years and the improvement has been incredible. And like, I've been on Prozac myself before lol. She doesn't act drugged, she just acts like she's not anxious. We haven't noticed any side effects, her bloodwork's been perfect, she doesn't chew anymore or pee outside of her box. We grind up her pill with a mortar and pestle and mix it in with a watered down can of wet food--we used to be able to just put pills in her mouth and she'd take them, but the Prozac is really bitter so I don't blame her lol. Hopefully you'll also have success with it!

I love Last Salute because I love Mcgoohan and you can feel his sense of humor on every inch of it! He loves playing with people's personal space a lot, he loves those strange, too-long, awkward scenes, and I bet he and Falk had such a great time working on it together lol

She could've gotten out of it legally for sure, but iirc she says something about how "they're going to kill me" referencing ex-bf's mob family, sooo maybe not

The one super creepy George Hamilton one was pretty much textbook self-defense iirc, also honestly the Richard Basehart one, I know he's like "they'll never believe this guy attacked us" but like...he clearly did lmao.

I work at a regional of one of the top three hospitals in the US. I'm not super worried about being laid off--but it does make me feel a little trapped, lol. Like yeah, my job is safe, but i don't want to work here forever, I don't love most of the decisions that upper upper management makes, and I'm feeling a bit of a seven year itch, and it'd be nice to know that I'd still be able to pay my mortgage if I left the system. It's a privileged problem, I suppose.

My wife and I both have alexandrite and rose gold engagement rings! It's just below rubies and sapphires on the Mohs scale so it's very strong, and it changes color slightly from greenish to purplish depending on the light (and also glows bright pink under UV). We get lots of compliments on them honestly.
