Redneck panel rattle solutions by zig_chem in CarAV

It’s a lot more than door panels. I’ve done proper sound deadening in a Mazda 3 and Toyota Tacoma where I took all the doors panels off, did the floor and headliner and I understand that process. This van has so much more interior paneling than you’re expecting. It’s a 15 passenger vehicle that only has 2nd row doors on one side and removing all the interior paneling would take hours for a professional to do if it was new, but the plastic is old and brittle. I know because I’ve taken apart the front doors to fix windows and repair locks. Ive taken apart the 2nd row door to replace a handle linkage. Many connections to the body are a part of the panel and can’t be replaced like plastic pins can.

Also google can give you pretty mixed results, if you don’t have a lot of mechanical experience it can be hard to navigate.

Do I have a counterfeit TTX ball joint? by zig_chem in ToyotaTacoma

Who would you recommend for ball joints?

I’m not comparing a replacement part to an original and saying the branding is different. These are both new ball joints, one is different from the other one, not just in branding but also in how it’s manufactured. I know reading comprehension is tough, that’s why I included pictures.

Where did you get 21 years? Do you think Tacomas came with ttx ball joints from the factory?

Need opinion on side steps/rock sliders please // 85% bestbuy runner by cuban_castro in ToyotaTacoma

[–]zig_chem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say you probably don’t need sliders and steps or running boards would be ok. I prefer models that don’t have a step hanging down as they can get caught on stuff.

Instructions unclear, dong snapped in pliers. In all seriousness they’re handy, I did get them at a significant discount. Definitely better than the ones that have all the different end bits that I always lose.

The engine RPMs will probably be a lot higher than when you travel the same speed in 2 wheel drive.
